Err... I need SLI for L4D2 otherwise I get like 30fps (sometimes lower) at 1920x1200 resolution... I am gaming on a laptop BTW... and no shadows do NOT render correctly under SLI...

There is a problem with just boshing two graphics cards on a chip and that's that there are some games that don't properly support SLI/Xfire and so you either get poor performance or graphical glitches (L4D2 does this). The other problem is that if you put two double cards in a PC you get diminishing returns - whereas two GTX580s would be beastly.

Stop calling resolutions "something"p. That's not a resolution. Resolution is 1920x1200 or something like that. 1080p, 720p etc. are TV video formats. Already we see games that are in "1080p" but their horizontal res is less than 1920. Two numbers make up resolution not one.

I want the challenge to come from the AI rather than from just driving against slower/faster cars. Here it may be early in the game, but it looks as though he's able to win just because the opponents are driving slow (not badly).

It's far from perfect but the AI has improved a vast amount since prologue. Forza's AI has its fair share of problems.

Edit: Just saw the part of the video you were talking about. That's pretty bad. I doubt they will fix it though, they care more about how thick in 10ths of a millimetre the exhaust pipe is for each individual car.

Motorstorm did not have a cockpit view, but the trailer did with windscreen wipers wiping off the mud. People were annoyed it was not included in the full game.

So you're in the second camp. Interesting. I guess you like bouncing cars off walls to improve your lap times. Pinball fan?

I will point out that it is not possible to solve the rendering equation EITHER. Yet GT5 does a reasonably good job of "faking" it. Would you rather GT5 had no graphics at all because they can't do it realistically? Or would you rather they made their best effort to make them as realistic as possible given the hardware available?

Everything is "fake" in games. It's not going to be entirely physically accurate. But who cares? You can make it LOOK that way. And GT5 doesn't. It's like RedSoakedSponge said, it just needs to be believable. And GT5 isn't.

Burnout has better damage than GT5. Yes I would like to see the level of damage burnout has in GT5. Hit a wall and you crash, that's how it should be. You seem to think that Grand Theft Auto 3-era damage is acceptable? Where y...

"Not an environment sim or damage sim"

Stop apologising for aspects of GT5 that are not up to scratch. I AGREE that they are not the most important aspects, but that's not to say that they should be neglected. Crashes HAPPEN. Damage HAPPENS. It's a real part of racing. More important than that is the fear of crashing, even if you don't actually crash. In GT5 you can play bumper cars which is hardly realistic.

You die in 1 or 2 bullets in...

Yeah the damage is not very impressive. PD have gone with the whole "invisible walls" thing and put some flimsy fences in that are indestructible. In some areas there is not even anything, maybe just a line of grass. It would be much more convincing to crash out of the barrier. If you are a good driver it shouldn't happen often, so it could disqualify you or even just reset you on the track.

Damage should be toned up a LOT as well. Damage should happen as the re...

No... think of what punching actually involves. You need to CONNECT your punch with your opponent. With 1:1 controls your punch will go straight through them. With 1:1 controls their punch will not even make you flinch if you choose not to move. The whole concept of 1:1 controls in a tactile game does not make sense, unless you have a punch bag and an animatronic boxing glove. But then it's physical entertainment not digital entertainment.

Seems that fighting games just don't work with motion controls. It's not surprising - fighting games have you performing crazy moves you could never do in real life. Punches CONNECT to your opponent whereas if you punch the air there's no resistance. Fighting games have always been about combos, quick reflexes and mashing (or skillful use of) buttons. Fighting games are hard to play with a joystick rather than a D-pad - so making the controls even less digital and responsive was n...

Mainstream media ALWAYS give good reviews to crap games/systems, because they're easy to pay off. This isn't some fanboy crap - even Haze got a 5/5 from one magazine (FHM I think). Often they don't even bother to play the games before reviewing them.

It's the main gaming sites that you should trust - but you should always read a selection of reviews. Looking at ArsTechnica, Engadget, IGN one can come to the conclusion that it's not all it's hyped up to...

Ummm... you can make a lot more than just high-score games. It's just that arcade-style games are tried and tested and gamers love them and want to recreate them. Have you seen the Flower level? The RPG concept level? These represent the most diverse game types available today and they can be recreated in LBP2... yes gamers want to create games where you shoot things and "do a barrel roll" but that's because that's what they enjoy. But there are also many people who have...

Hmmm. All signs seem to point that you shouldn't trust retailers for GT5 release dates (retailers claimed GT5 was coming out March '08, then Holiday '08, then March '09, then November '09, then December '09, then Early '10, then 2nd November '10, then December '10 - see a pattern? See why people call these "delays"? It's because they trust retailer release dates)

Try again.
