This study is sort of a sham but I like the positive message!
You're actually all correct. The judge said that as a jurist he couldn't accept the defense, but in his closing statement he still derided video games. GamePolitics had a story about it..
You don't remember that? See the ad:

@poison
It's the tendercrisp baconcheddarra-aanch.
Whoa nice graphic.
Yeah I guess it is kind of obvious. Still, you gotta make time for Hootie. It's Hootie!
Fishy -
To be fair, Pachter's report came out before the Reuters story.
I actually wonder about that when I see the Pachter Watch stories, but then I did a quick Google and found this:

That's a dated example, but he's got a decent track record. Might be time for an update, though..
I want to see Square develop the next Halo. :D
Much as I love video games, I disagree. From a storytelling perspective, games aren't legitimate. The idea that you play part of a game over and over until you realize the ideal outcome is at odds with what narrative is.
This could change, but not until games fundamentally become about something besides trial and error (see: Braid).
Great article.
Yeah you got to stoop to appeal the simpletons.
However, I've been showing off Braid to my friends and they really like participating, trying to figure out how to solve the puzzles as a group. Makes me think there's room somewhere in the middle.
There's COMPETITION? Someone was sitting in the boardroom saying "Yeah we've got to get in on that zombie apocalypse market, it's really a growth industry."
Wow we've got poor taste in television, apparently.
I wrote a related essay a while back:

Who cares! :D
I agree with you Danny, but little remarks like this add up to a general negative sentiment. What I take issue with more is when gamers can't face an honest criticism that actually has merit.
We are truly the scum of the earth.
Pikachu? Really?
You can't walk the fine line between "cute" and "must die" and still be considered one of the most adorable.
Alan Wake sounds pretty cool.
