On top of never actually being a potential customer they can become a potential means for advertising after they pirate the game.
A few years back I pirated Just Cause 2 and absolutely loved it. So much in fact that I told all my friends to buy it, and they did. I even ended up buying it later even though I'd already played the crap out of it because I felt like I owed it to the game. Not only did they lose nothing but they ended up gaining more because of pirating.
I'm a ps3 only owner and I played it (the online multiplayer) for the first time last night at my friend's house and it was absolutely amazing. I have only positive things to say about it after a 3 hour taste.
Yeah, before this video I didn't realize I could have a double boner.
I can't believe Portal 2 isn't on here. It's my favorite ending to a video game of all time. It feels like the author thinks that in order to be a good ending it has to be something shocking and/or that blew your brain out the back your head. There is a such thing as a semi-predictable good ending.
@GribbleGrunger
While I agree with most of everything you're saying, what you stated there isn't the definition of theft. On top of that pirating games also isn't theft. It's actually copyright infringement, which of course is just as illegal and admonishable. The more you know.
I think he's referring to the fact that we're nearing the end of the 360's life cycle.
The whole article is a joke. This site is like the Onion if you've ever heard of that. I think it's decently humorous.
Except if businesses had minds like you they'd all go under. Even if they're not able to break even on the time spent/money cost to make the DLC work on ps3 it would be worth it. Why? Because then maybe ps3 users will buy their next game, unlike how it is now: there are many who won't be buying bethesda games anymore. It's extremely short sighted and unwise to think like you do.
This is a place where microsoft and ps3 fanboys hold hands and laugh. Where gamers are glad to pay for first day DLC. Where fans love seeing their favorite game being blatantly ripped off.
You have stepped into...
THE TWILIGHT ZONE!
*70s sci-fi esque music plays*
I downloaded this years ago and it was awesome then. I had no idea they were still working on it. I can't wait to see all that they've accomplished.
Links broken. I'm quite excited for this one. I was getting pretty dang sick of the 7 goalie animations. :p
@hiptanaka:
This is like blaming the guys that coded the unreal engine for any game that uses it that has issues. Once again, you know nothing about programming or what goes into making a game and you're making it more and more obvious.
@PoSTedUP: Holy hell yes please. That and Amnesia.
You know nothing. I don't know for sure all the things you didn't appreciate about that game but I am 100% certain that every last one of them are things that Carmack has little to nothing to do with.
I swear people act like he made the entire game by himself.
Why has no one bothered to check the validity of this? Black Ops 2 has way more pre-orders if you combine all the consoles. The number this article just throws out is for 360 only. Which doesn't make any sense to do.

I love articles like these. Video game history intrigues me greatly.
Here's the thing though, a 7950 is very easily and 90% of the time successfully flashable up to a 7970. So for the time being, I'd say that's still the better deal.
If you're an nVidia fan then go for it. Just giving some food for thought.
You're just like all the idiots that think pirating games hurts the industry. A person that buys a cheap used game most likely isn't interested enough in that game to pay full price. So they wouldn't be getting his money anyways. On top of that, if he likes it he most likely will tell his friends about it which could result in further sales.
These things are far more complicated than just for every used game purchased is exactly that much lost for the developer in...
Holy awesome. Why haven't we started an official petition yet then?
EDIT: Found one in the comments of the article

See why couldn't they just say this in the preview then? Instead of saying this game is definitely going to be incredible, they could say something like 'the small bit that I experienced was enjoyable albeit riddled with bugs and definite issues.' Would that be so hard?
