Sony removing a feature they advertised was wrong without some level of compensation as it is false advertising. It doesn’t matter if people didn’t use it. Just like it would be wrong if Microsoft removed the dev mode feature that people have paid for.
What Jim did was just good business to put some distance between Activision and Sony due to the arrangement they have on CoD. Ubisoft had similar problems and you didn’t see a comment from Sony about that as far as I can recall. The difference being they didn’t have an agreement with them.
@Foxtrot, It is the fact they had a deal with Activision is why Jim had to speak. He doesn’t want the bad press to hit Sony through association. Not having an arrangement is typically when you don’t hear anyone talking about it.
It isn’t Bethesda getting to decide anything in this case. Microsoft bought them so they don’t really have a say in it. They were purchased for the sole purpose of making content for their platform and services. If they were going to allow it to come to PlayStation then there wasn’t a need to buy Bethesda in the first place. They could have just made an exclusive deal for Starfield the same way Sony did for Deathloop.
This is a ridiculously bad take that is just inherently incorrect. Back 4 Blood is a third party game added to the service. So is Avengers, Outriders, etc. As far as paying to have IP on a service, have you never heard of Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc? They all pay to have IP on their service just like Sony pays for titles on the PS Plus service.
Physical sales for one region isn’t indicative of anything. Most people are buying games digitally now. People that have Gamepass are just able to play more games and probably don’t see a point to rushing out to buy Far Cry or Guardians. I bought Guardians but on PC. I didn’t buy Far Cry because I’m tired of that franchise like CoD. I have purchased games that were on Gamepass that I would have never tried if it hadn’t been on the service. It isn’t this thing that kills sales across the...
This is From Software. After making 5 back to back hits in the souls series I think it is safe to preorder this game if you care about any of the collectors edition stuff.
They would still have the PlayStation division. Sony doesn’t make money on hardware so bringing software to the PC day and date would just help them gain more sales. Releasing on PC years later costs them money as the games are discounted at that point and spoilers are everywhere to the point a lot of people may not care at that point and not buy the game. This console first strategy doesn’t make any sense.
Yes they should. It doesn’t hurt anyone and would only make them more money. Fanboys can just get over it.
It isn’t full price though. The games are discounted when they come to PC.
I’m with you. Put the games out on PC day one as well. It can only make them more money and all the people who want to play on console will still buy and play on the console. They don’t make money on the hardware anyway, so it is a win win.
I’m down for day 1 releases but that won’t happen.
Lol I was thinking the exact same thing. DLSS is used for running high end games with better framerates but you could run these games at 4k on pretty much anything stronger than a toaster at this point. Thise seems like more of a checkbox type of thing.
Coming out day and date would be fine. No need to wait four years. The only people who care about that are fanboys for whatever reason. Sony makes their money from software sales which they could also get in the PC space. It wouldn’t hurt them to release at the same time.
It would make sense to get as many sales as possible at full price. Releasing years later on PC at a reduced price is just foolish. Sony doesn’t make money on console sales in the grand scheme. They make money on software sales and taking a cut of third party games sold on their platform. They could just as easily create their own PC storefront for their first party games and continue to take the full sale of the game. Them sticking to a console only strategy just doesn’t make sense anym...
I guess we will see. I just finished my second play through for Horizon on PC and it is still very buggy after all of the patches. I’m thinking this may be better like Days Gone seems to be but it isn’t guaranteed just because it is a PlayStation title.
That is what this is all about. They want people to have to buy another console to have it in black rather than just sell black plates. It is pure greed. These are just plastic panels that they already have the injection molds for. Literally just a color swap and bingo you have an accessory ready to sell. They aren't doing it because they can sell a whole new console the other way.
This is just ridiculous. I don't remember a problem when the 360 had plates tha...
It is going to give PC a boost as well since it is also on PC GamePass.
Speaking as someone who owns the Switch version..........it looks like a blurry mess. This will be playing the full fledged game in portable fashion without the Switch related sacrifices. I'm sure it isn't perfect but it will be a big step up from the Switch version.
@RaiderNation That is exactly the point. Why make a console at all? The money is made on the software and not the hardware. Consoles used to be highly proprietary but now they are basically just PC’s. I would much prefer a world where everything is just a PC but there are a couple of console-like PC’s that are prebuilt with set specs for a budget. They could even have a shell similar to Steam’s big screen mode to simplify the user experience.
