the main reason wii u isn't selling well is that because it fails to capture the audience aged b/w 14-20.you don't exactly see a mature first party game from nintendo which will have the interest of adults who are not nintendo fans.

linux kernel is more uniform than any out there.
even on android the same linux kernel runs on so many hardwares.on top of that patches can be added.

considering the upheaval caused due to always online xbox situation, i assume that most people dont have a very good internet connection.
streaming is all about good connection, i dont think that situation will change in just 5 years.people will still have sucky internet connection ,and graphical advances will increase the data transfer rate required for smooth gameplay.
therefore 9th gen will definitely happen.
