XCell was the last advancement, Sony has since converted the plants for new CMOS chips. Even The IBM plant in New York has stopped advancing the tech at XCell. What we have there in the rumored specs I put up... dwarfs the Cell.
The Cell may be a powerful CPU, but its efficiency is what killed it. No game could ever use it to its fullest.

Another reason I believe it is a Triple Core Wii CPU and modified HD4850 is the fact that at TGS, Tecmo Koei guys said Dynasty Warriors is putting too much of a strain on the Wii U Cpu, that it requires many soldiers on screen at once. They said graphically, the console is superior to PS360, but in terms of CPU performance its weaker the the 360 and PS3.
With that said, the Cell CPU is really quick, but even the 360 and PS3 is old tech now. Why would a Watson Power 7 CPU triple core...
One thing is certain, in that tiny little console case, how much heat would a triple core Power7 CPU make? Coupled with the 6670 gpu? Thats what people make is BEST under the hood. That too me seems like alot more of a power hog than that case can handle.
Frankly, I go with the other rumor.
