G4 had decent coverage, but even they were surprised by the SOny one, afterwards Adam Sessler turned ot thte others with this WTF look on his face.

Couldnt agree more man. The videos after the press conferences were pretty good, they should have been the press conferences themselves. We got a ton of information after the fact which was odd.
I hear ya but everyhting announced was a sequel of some sort or a game that we already new was coming. Nothing was a real surprise, Killzone, Gears, God of war, Animal crossing - everyone knew these were coming. MAG and GTA DS were probbaly the biggest surprises of the conference.
FFXIII was a giant reveal but it was a revela of a game we had seen already. The news was that Sony was getting screwed, still big news though. But htere wasnt really one game that people were like OH MY GOD! MAG and God of War were possibly the closest things, MAG was all CGI and God of War was just a teaser. Gears 2 was nice but we had already heard about it so it wasnt jaw dropping.

I dont want to be negative, I guess my expectations were a lot higher. I thought we would see new Zelda and Metroid game
Nintendo really elt us down. No punchout, no zelda, no metroid, shoot not even a mario title?!
PS3 I felt was weak because tehir announcements were just so slow and many of them we new abot already, also the lack of killzone was surprising.
MS I liked the avatr and dashboard info as well as the final bombshella bout FFXIII, they droped that news and then ran. lol
The conference realy didnt showcase games, I think it focused more on look at our numbers and what we have done.
Press conferences for me were like this:
MS > Nintendo > Sony
E3 was quite a dissapointment all around no real ground breaking announcements were made. Each of the big 3 came up pretty lame. I grade it as a failure form the perspective that E3 was supposed to focus on games and it didn't do that IMO.

E3 2008 was a big let down. No new IP's were announced escept maybe a couple. Sony fell short, Nintendo stayed super casual and MS big news was that it stole a game away from the PS3.
Ranking of conferences:
MS > Nintendo > Sony
Gotta agree, THe GC had better games and I used it alot more. Many people I speak to use the Wii for the VC mostly or party games. If it is ina party atmosphere t works well, but aside form that you feel dumb playing it alone.
I htink the thought of having 256 players onine is awesome but my fear is that the strategy portion of the game will be lost. Also the maps will be huge which could make games long and tedious to find each other.
Nintendo abandoned the hardcore gamers all togehter. The conference looked like it was geared solely for casual gamers and kids. The most hardcore game they had was Animal Crossing???
COD made a small appearance but that is multi plat anyway.
Nintendo will sell a ton of games and systems but it is smoke and mirrors. There is not substance to their super cute games. People get tired of them after a bit. a lot of people just buy them because they are cool right now...
The sad part is that at E3 2009 youll just see a teaser trailer for it, zing hhhaha
