You attempted denying a fact, after you asked a question that's literally answered in the description of the article.

Who's the Richard, the one giving you the right answers or the person not bothering to read?

"No gaming company has pushed harder to remove ownership than Microsoft."

Ubisoft is literally erasing games people bought from their libraries... My PS1-3 discs are useless on modern hardware. Nintendo's re-published and resold almost their entire Wii U library, and the eShop is completely dead with no BC mechanism in the Switch software. Microsoft publishes everything they make today day one on Steam and Xbox/Windows. Sony only brings to PC the titles they t...

Um. That is my point. That there have been so many nails in this "native performance" coffin and they've been getting hammered in for years, even on PS4 Pro before DLSS was even a thing.

PSSR in the fall can assume that role.

No it doesn't. It runs in the One S mode.

PS4 Pro had dedicated hardware in it for supporting checkerboard rendering that was used significantly in PS4 first party titles, so you don't need to look to PC or even modern PC gaming. The first RTX cards released nearly 6 years ago, so how many nails does this coffin need?

I have the game already preordered based on how much I liked the demo, and no where do I say I'm relying on reviews from people I don't know, so I don't know who you're actually talking to there.

I also know a game can demo well in a short slice but fall short in the final product, too.

Maybe not. That's a wait-to-find-out. FPS Boost on Series X runs in the One S mode as opposed to the 4K One X mode. It could be that the new Performance Mode is actually tweaked to the new consoles instead of the base-last-gen mode, and Quality should obviously be improved over that One X mode.

Persona 3 Reloaded and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth both became the quickest selling of their franchises with over a million units sold.

IGN's article about Granblue selling over 1 million in mid-Feb mentioned that. So we've got those 3 in million seller status before Rebirth was even out. I can definitely see that being a factor, especially with how big Rebirth is being a marketing point.

MAU is used to reference engagement or growth in a game. The conversation is muddied because people want to talk about sales instead of player count. How is this not like that?

Growth can mean and be two different things. Growth of quantity, or growth of proportion. People in finance and accounting will never look at 2% in one instant and look at 2% at a later instant and say "Hey look, growth!" That's a joke, to be frank. The 2% is more than the earlier 2% bu...

Hopefully the game sticks the landing. Demo was a great time so I'm hoping we're not in for another Hogwarts Legacy type of situation.

By that I mean, its flaws don't get swept under the rug just because of the controversy the game doesnt deserve. HL was a solid game overall but at its core, it was an above-average Ubisoft-like from quest structure to a physical edition with an online installation requirement to being riddled with SJW shoehorning.

The context in the article is kinda like the discussion of MAU metrics. Manipulation of figures to get it to say what you want it to.

I.e. "The proportion is shrinking, but there are more players so it's actually not shrinking!"

Maybe try reading the article, or even the description below the headline.

That 60fps is the system-driven FPS Boost, this is a full current-gen optimized release making its way to PS5 too alongside other updates impacting all versions.

The actual article from DF themselves is the top story at this very moment - it doesn't get much more "duplicate" than that.

According to Digital Foundry:

"This is a profoundly improved sequel and a game that is generationally advanced beyond its predecessor."

"Hellblade 2 is just on another level in almost every respect in terms of core technology."

"...and is possibly even a bit ahead of Hellblade 2's first gameplay trailer."

"This could be the very best looking Unreal Engine 5 title out there"...

If you think gaming is genuinely worse now or is in a persistent quality decline, I'd question why you'd even be spending the time online discussing the hobby or industry. Especially after 2023 and what we've got in 2024.

It's rose-tinted glasses looking at where we are now and saying the industry 20 years ago was better.

The choppy inconsistent framerates. The extremely expensive N64 carts. Proprietary expensive memory cards. Movie tie-in...

I've gotta agree. Luigi's Mansion and Metroid Prime are some of my favorite games of that generation, but Sony takes the crown for the narrative, deeper experiences that Nintendo doesn't try to venture into

Microsoft had a niche idea but horrible pricing execution that makes it just so awful.

Like who is going to take their plug n play storage over to their buddy's place to play the latest 80-120GB Game Pass title? No. Sony had the right approach.
