@RevXM The PS3 has a single core and 8 SPUs. One SPU is disabled and the other is used for OS and security leaving 6 for games. SPUs are not cores and should not be called cores.
Microsoft has really stopped doing things in terms of games. They add lots of cool features for Xbox Live Gold, but I really only care about games on my game console. Microsoft started out great and then just kinda... stopped.
1nsomniac, they did get it running on a single GTX 680. Of course they changed some things, it was originally designed and optimized to run on 3 GTX 580s. Throwing 4 GeForce 6200 GPUs won't give you more computing power then a single GTX 480. The number is irrelevant, it's about the GPU used which is what I stated earlier.
It's not really their fault for being uneducated. Not everyone had the pleasure of living through gamings history first hand. There will soon be people who can't conceive of a world without extremely fast Internet and smart phones. It our job as the older generation to pass along history without making the younger generation feel stupid. We can either hinder or help to teach.
It's not the number of GPUs that's important, it's about the GPUs used. The Samaritan tech demo needed 3 GTX 580s to run originally, but they got it up and running on a single GTX 680. The 680 is also what the tech demo for UE4 was running on.
How about a 4x MSAA standard and decent frame rates? Actually, I'd settle for just decent frame rates.
Not really. You're forgetting that consoles don't need as much hardware to make amazing looking games. If you think of the 360 as a PC you would have issues running most games on anything other then the lowest possible resolution with everything turned down to low. And yet, due to the power of optimization you get games that look like Gears 3.
The actual GPU is relatively small, you're thinking of the PCB and other components that are attached to the GPU. In a console those things wouldn't be there. You're also assuming that it would be a vanilla card, which isn't realistic. Microsoft would modify it to better suit the overall design of the console.
I still don't understand why people are against online passes. Instead of saving $5 on a used game why not support the industry and the developers and buy it new? Used games make developers no money which is a huge problem because making AAA games is crazy expensive. If you want the full game spring for a new game. It costs $5 more, but you're supporting the industry.
Actually, Ken Kutaragi famously said every PS3 games would be native 1080p at 120 frames per seccond.
No, it's nothing like a dealership closing because new cars come out. The dealership doesn't design the cars or put them together. They don't even need to know anything about cars. Developers have to restructure their entire engine and the way they work to make games for new hardware. Besides, it's not like they said they were giving up, they said they learned a lot and won't make as many mistakes next time. Huge difference dude. You make it sound like making games is easy...
It's just you. Why would anyone care that you can watch YouTube on a game console? Maybe you want your GAME CONSOLE to do everything, but personally all I want my GaMe cOnSoLe to do is play games.
Sargent Lipton needs to be brought over to the Oscars. It isn't the most mature show, but that's why I love it. It makes me feel like just because you get older, you never have to grow up.
This is ridiculous, whenever a World War 2 game gets released you don't hear holocaust survivors complaining. You know why not? Because that would be stupid because it's JUST A GAME.
Of course games are art. They are invisioned be someone, then he has a team of ARTISTS to help him realize his vision. Then the story must be made to be interesting to live and interact through. Plus all the actors making their representations feel you a certain way. The amount of love and dedication that goes into something like Uncharted 3 is almost unbelievable.
Well damn, I'd love to see what they would be as to do if they dedicated all their love to the PC. Not knocking them mind, they did a well above par job and really showed what the PC can do, it's just exciting to think they can do more.
It's nice that 4A is taking the PC seriously since most of the old school PC gods have gone console :( Never thought id would though... By the way, tested on a 16 core CPU with full utilization!!!!! Jesus that cool.
LoL, no it doesn't.
I never thought that the ultimate PC company (at least in terms of horribly optimized meh FPS) would jump on console cock so hard. Well, I guess it's for the best because it forced them to make a game you don't need a super computer to run. Silver lining in everything I guess.
It's almost a shame Naughty Dog are owned by Sony. Their games are so amazing I wish more people could play them. Gonna get a lot of disagrees, but platforms don't matter. It's all about the games.
