While R* wins with sheer shock and awe. ND makes a game using awesome graphics and great characters that we can fall in love with and a story that is extremely compelling while R* makes a game using homosexual references, sexual innuendos and cop killing, drug using/selling, alcohol abuse and hooker beatings... Although, I must admit, taking his bubbles and disagreeing with him is much more fun. He will soon have one bubble then we can all sit back and laugh every time he posts something as ignorant as his post is above.
Now that is yet another reason why I love Naughty Dog. They can take this generations topics and make them a joke and have the games to back them up. Uncharted is one of the prettiest games and it is all in the fact that they use such an amazing color palette. Can't say that much for Gears. I will say though that games like Halo take it a bit too far with pinks and purples.
It will be at my house tomaroow. I bought it from them just now and paid only 42 bucks for it brand new. This game is too epic not to buy it.
I respectfully disagree and here is why. You mention that the DC was based on the Arcade approach but need to be reminded that in 1999, arcades were all but extinct and that even today, arcades are primarily Japan and nowhere else. That being said, it was not forward thinking of Sega to incorporate this strategy as it harmed them more than helped. What was it that made you say the DC was ahead of its time? It was a CD based game using Windows CE for an OS ruining Dial-Up for net connection and had a controller that used only a single thumb stick. Yeah the VMU was cool but a gimmick nonetheless and the internet was ok. Quake III Arena was fun for a spell but PSO was dismal at best. I loved the DC but it was their lack of innovation that helped usher it off the market.
With Sony, you don't have to play another "Halo" game every year. You don't get rushed racing sims that look no different than the last game released and you don't have to play another Mario. Instead, you get great new IP's along with refreshing looks into returning IP's. Even the returning IP's look awesome. Ratchet has never looked better and plays awesome!
Naughty Dog did all of this without having to ship one single swag bag! Kudos to ND for a great game and to Sony for knowing who to have as their developers. They sure know how to pick 'em!
I'm not so sure this game is for me anymore. It looks like a good rental and since I will be playing the heck out of Uncharted 2, this one will have to sit back for a while.
That's because the total sales of the 360 do not match the install base in terms of number of consoles. With the fact that MS counts a replacement console for the RROD as a "sale", there is nowhere near the same number for install base as there is number of consoles sold. In fact, I would go as far as to say that there are 33% less install base than total number of consoles sold...
Yes, but for the Xbox fanboy, this matters not. THey just care about the numbers so they can have some data to try desperately to show Sony up. They are still hurt from the Dreamcast and Xbox era that they will even use any number they can get their hands on to look good...
That MS fans defend this type of development. All they did here was put a little different lighting on the old game and packaged it for full retail. This is worse than the Rainbow Six Vegas crap that Ubisoft pulled a while back. More of an update than a new retail game.
What more could you ask for. I am going to be spending much time with this game next week!
It's not worth the 60 bucks. I will rent it but never buy it. It's the beauty of GameFly.

Please, these lists are just plain dumb.
And the pictures above show that what I said is not too far off the mark. They simply polished their racing game and manage to score the same or higher than Forza 2. I have played them and like them somewhat but they have no excuse for simply tossing some polish on the game and releasing yet another forza in a couple years time. Any other company would have been nocked down for no new innovation and to deny that is simply fanboyish. Call me names all you want but that does not change the fact...
