That's a fake laugh.
The reason I say your opinion is irrelevant is because you use it to disagree with me... even though you're not disagreeing with me. That's the problem. You're simply focusing on a different area of the game. You disagree with my assessment... by listing what I already sum up as "solid" and "extremely engaging". After everything you listed, you didn't factor in the story at all. Our opinions weren't really in conflict. e.g. disagreeing with someone who ...
OH GOLLY!
a proper discussion of the one thing I really criticized about the game. Let's dig in, but quick!
First off, you say you only have a problem when people argue the story is unintelligible. mm-hmm. Alright then.
Secondly, yes, I do claim the plot is bare-bones. The reason I leave it at that is because this isn't the blog to delve into that. That, and in my defense, I wasn't about to go into detail over something you didn't seem...
Thorstein, you're still not getting it: not once did I ever say anything about the game failing due to the gameplay or online offerings. In fact, I either ignored or only ever praised the gameplay side of the experience in the above blog.
You're not disagreeing with me. My argument isn't that the game isn't fun because of the gameplay or online stuff. My argument isn't that the game is bad because everyone else thinks so. Hell, my argument isn't even t...
I don't know why I didn't get a notification for you comment, that was weird. Oh well.
Anyway, I noticed in your list of reasons regarding Destiny, you barely come close to disagreeing with me. My problems lie in the game's story, and how terrible of a job it does in pulling you in and engaging you. Also, the fact that the game's lore is separate from the game is one of many questionable decisions that further hurt the story. But, Mr. Thorsetin, you disagree w...
"learning" and "game journalism" don't appear to be synonymous these days apparently.
Thorstein, clearly not enough people already know, because otherwise they wouldn't be trying to disregard his points as if he were wrong. What discussion are you referring to? All I ever see on this site are delusional fans trying to disregard any actual discussion from the rational fans.
Although I agree that a video/article's title is not immune to clickbait... the title has actual relevance to the points made in the video. Whether or not it's "clickbait&qu...
I'll have to look into that. Perhaps they should work with SEGA on their Virtual Console emulation. They could throw in a bunch of screen-changing options like Retro City Rampage had. Who knows, with Nintendo, they're always late to the party and they're slow to warm up, but once they get going you better keep your eyes on the punch bowel.
I don't know where I was going with that analogy. It's 4 AM. I'm going to bed.
Also, for the love...
People seem to forget that weapons in a survival horror game does not automatically equate to an action game; it depends on HOW those weapons are handled.
You can still make the player feel vulnerable if you force them to value their resources and think before they use them. By that, I mean make the weapons come with a trade-off. Such as: limited ammunition, gunfire making too much noise and drawing the alien, or having to drag the dead bodies of androids to certain disposal ...
Despite the few exceptions, I don't see why it has to be one or the other with Virtual Console games.
I mean, NES, SNES, Game Boy, Game Gear, and Game Boy Advance titles shouldn't be exclusive to any one Nintendo platform, there should be only one Virtual Console service. Again, that's not including the exceptions, such as the 3D classics, but Like randomass171 said, your just making us buy the same game twice. It makes no sense.
Well, as much as I enjoy playing certain classic handheld games on my 3DS, I believe the way Nintendo are handling the 3DS Virtual Console goes beyond the problem of putting the portables on Wii u (but seriously Nintendo, are you that desperate?).
1. The pricing is just heinous. Who in their right mind would spend... what is it, 4? 5? 6 SODDING DOLLARS on virtual console games? There's just no reason, especially since most of these games are either already owned (because ...
But you have to admit it gets a lot of attention, and that's the sad truth. It's just a means to get your obscure website/channel off the ground, honestly: be negative about everything, who cares if it's right, wrong, important, rational or even legitimate journalism. So long as it gets clicks from the masses who're easily offended and antagonized. It gets in the way of real discussion and coverage.
Tommy Tallarico said it best in this Reboot interview:
I'm sorry, clearly you don't find this amazing because otherwise you wouldn't have a disagree.
This site so sometimes, criminy!
lol, you must be some kind of virtual super hero.
"Something like DEADSPACE for example. The lights go off.....You know what's coming. You know something's jumping out of that vent.."
well that's my point, NixonMonoxide: you know what's coming. It's the same every time you play, which is a shame because these are games, not films; the same thing doesn't have to happen every time. The horror experience gets stale when you try to play it over again
However, I do agree that lin...
I don't agree with that...partly. First of all, it's a misguided belief that graphics by themselves are what scare the player. However, I do agree with leaving it up to the player's imagination, but that's just one of many factors that make a good horror game.
It's a matter of balance. When you make your game scripted, if you make it linear, predictable, and you make the player believe that they are capable, THEN THE GAME WON'T BE SCARY.
I said "who he was" not "what he did". Those aren't the same. As horrible as his actions were as a dictator, that doesn't really tell me much about his personality or demeanor as a person. That's what the term "behind closed doors" usually implies.
He could've been a wise-cracking, fun-loving, devoted father. He could've believed what he was doing was the right thing for Germany. Or he could've been a sociopathic, sadistic...
Well, you don't have to clear the area, you could completely ignore the enemies and stay hidden. It's up to you.
But if you're talking about other kinds of gameplay, I don't know, I think highly-organic infiltration (as well as a few scripted action sequences) work fine for this game. You could literally play it a hundred different ways.
The only thing I'm worried about is how resource balancing is going to work in this game. In Peace Walk...
Yo dawg, I heard you like boxes...
Honestly, I don't really care all that much about the Tomb Raider sequel. I was expecting an action survival experience with the first game; you know, something that really forced you to scrounge for resources and hunt for food and raid tombs for valuables to trade with Mr. Whot-arr-ya-bowin for weapons or something. The game appeared to be going for that when I started playing (although most of it was scripted). But then it dumped its survival elements in favor of a "kill everything...
