Not trying to burst any bubbles here, just that I keep reading a lot of Jrpg, even those that didn't come out in the states. I'm willing to bet somebodies else baby that when they say MASSIVE significance, it's more likely to a western audience they are meaning.
Professional gaming. Just like golf or chess at the pro level. You get paid to play. Nothing wrong with that. Only nay-sayers are those that don't have a competitive bone in their body.
