I think what he means by mess was the whole DLC controversy.
Majority of the 'DLC' was not actually Down-Loadable Content. It was included in the original game and could only be unlocked by a single text file you had to buy.
I mean, charging to 'unlock' the highest powered engine which was already in the game, along with other car upgrades.
Bit of a dick move by them. Hopefully they have learned their lesson...
