It sounds too risky for Xbox. Any significant new IPs will probably be done by a contracted 3rd party studio. Their history shows no interest in letting their developers take on their own creative tasks. Their duties are to build games on Xbox properties. Microsoft publishing has been the experimental battlegrounds. I don’t know who storylabs is but I’m not expecting anything huge out of this announcement even it’s true. It's kind of hard not to put this and the recent Hennig reflection together in some sense. I think it says a lot about where they are heading as a studio. They were naughty dogs best game writers and I'm kind of glad they are gone. I'm really looking forward to their future works, hopefully Straley goes independent instead of hopping onto a publisher like EA. I'd love to see him and Hennig reunite some time in the future as well.

The best thing she could have done was leave. Her game writing style is not like druckmann's and her resume doesn't have to compromise. Instead of being third wheel she left to lead in another studio and I don't blame her. Naughty Dog had a clear shift after the last of us and it didn't fit with her style.
