Yes, no way an Xbox console will surpass a PlayStation one, but we can hope a stiffer competition, for competition's sake. Like 60-40. This gen PS won the race from day one and by too much.
If they manage to provide 2080Ti level of performance, its ok to cost $600. The issue is when you dont see the performance reflected in the price like Xbox One's 1.3TF $500 back in 2013.

Is that difficult just releasing a Ryzen 3700@4Ghz, 24GB GDDR6, NVME 1TB and 5700XT+RT for $500 eating $100 the first year? Stop trying to re invent the wheel Microsoft, same for Sony and the rumored PS5 Pro. Just release a 3nm slim and a super slim models for 300 and 200 down the line and thats it.
The Cell was a power beast, sadly was not a good idea to implement it on a game console.
Sony should buy these 4 IPs from Konami, pay whatever Konami wants for them and let them still use the IP for Pachinko machines only:
