My point is that SONY tried to stop it buy disabling the OtherOS feature, which only affected those who updated a.k.a those of use who weren't going to use it to hack anyway. So my point is that by doing so they took people who had no desire to hack the PS3 and gave them a very good reason to do so.

Sigh, this article is completely incorrect. This all started with SONY removing the OtherOS feature. If they hadn't done that then the hackers would still have their linux and would be content. But SONY, in their infinite wisdom, decided to do the DUMBEST thing an electronics company can do. They pissed off the hackers.
