The machine is incapable of playing the game directly off the disk. The Blu Ray drive is for movies only. All disk based games must be installed, not only because that is the backbone of the DRM and the system, but because it's a technological impossibility for the system. It cannot do it even if MS gives it the go ahead, without radically altering the architecture and the layout of the console.
