Because their milking tactics failed in China and not as many people played or bought the game year after year, unlike North american idiots, they released this free to get players addicted.
Once the fanbase increases there, all support for this free game will stop and activision will expect them to buy the real games.

I play hundreds of games, but this is on franchise where i've played the campaign over and over again like 30 times, for EACH game. Once you're into the story and get used to the gameplay, there's nothing like it.

haven't the movies always had some kind of fantastical element to them? I mean lara got chased by a walking monument in the first, and the second one had some crazy shadow things.
Cuz it's stupid if you think that affects the excitement of an actual full-fledged halo game. Seriously, ODST was an expansion, halo wars was an RTS that was a completely different game under the halo brand, an anniversary was a friggin remake.
It's not hard to tell that a real sequel brings completely different excitement that expansions and remakes.
So far it seems they're doing a great job building the maps group up specifically for competitive multiplayer.

but that's iff they include squad control. So far gears has never allowed you to command your squad. Hopefully they do now, it would be interesting since there's so much reliance on teams.

doesn't really matter, the biggest issue now is the 2 player split-screen online. Plz for god's sake 343 make it playable online 4 player split-screen.
Halo is the only good game in the world nowdays that has this feature, best game to play when friends are over.
It's annoying how mucher lower some people's standard for innovation is nowdays, specially when it comes to COD.
I don't think this guy realizes that "competitive zombies" is just an innovation of the game mode itself, not the whole game. If that's considered innovative, we've already lost the meaning of the word.
Even if it is, there's no way it means "next generation can wait", that's a bunch of stupidity.
I agree with everything you said, i play call of duty as well but i don't buy it every year. I mostly borrow COD games from friends. The fact that they turned one of my favourite franchises (during cod4 era) into a repetitive cow left a bitter taste in my mouth.
While that's a good point that other games try to innovate to dethrone cod, it also works the other way around cuz most other games just try to imitate cod so they can cash in, when they realize they can't...
