The thing is, once the next-gen consoles are released, the graphics levels will shoot up rapidly, on both PC and the new consoles. This is because most AAA games are made for multiple platforms, so if a developer used all the raw power of a high end gaming rig, then they won't be able to port it to the consoles.
Next gen consoles are said to have specs similar to a high end gaming laptop. But when games do get developed for them, the games will look better than games run...
Lower textures on low. Poor shadows. View distance is also low. Better AA on Max. I think you can also notice the low AF on the low settings screenshot. All of these can be deduced from the screenshots. The rest of the effects such as particles, AO, etc will be more apparent during gameplay.

Were you in the alpha? If yes, then how bad was the lag? I saw some alpha gameplay footage and didn't really notice any lag, but I'm guessing the best person to judge the amount of lag is the person playing the game.
Yeah I just realised. The article said sign up, so I thought I'd actually have to fill in some details to get access to the beta, like I did for The Elder Scrolls Online closed beta yesterday. I guess the "sign up" thing only applies for closed beta.
But yeah, I'll download it for my laptop and ps3 both, so I'll be able to compare and decide which version to get when the game finally releases.
Can't sign up for it for the PC. For some reason the sign up page isn't working for me. I'll just get PS3 version then...*sigh*

I don't think I've seen any game on the PC, mod or no mod, look as good as those in the article, AND being rendered real time. Don't get me wrong, the ENB series mod has done wonders for games like GTA IV and Skyrim, making the games graphical beasts, but they're not as defined as the pictures in question, not yet anyways.

I tried the beta from Origin yesterday on my laptop, though it's a gaming beast by no means, I managed to get an average of 30fps on medium settings. Come today, I downloaded the beta on my ps3, fired it up, and the first thing I noticed was the huge drop in resolution, AA, and overall picture quality compared to LOW settings on PC (I tried low to see what performance I was getting on my laptop).
