I for one would think it reinvents the wheel. We live in a time where everyone has short attention spans. As we get older, we don't have time to roam around in towns for hours. If this only enhances the character development and story, sign me up, cause I for one am astronomically excited. Besides, it's not like it's out of the picture entirely, you can do it 25 hours in, which is only half the games length I'm assuming based on how long they said it would take to beat (50-60 hours).

Resident Evil 3 Nemesis needs to be on this list. In my opinion, it's the scariest game of all time. Being chased constantly like that? Sign me up. Can't argue with FFVII, it is my favorite game of all time. And I flew through it this time in 32 hours, but I also understood much more of the story (disc 2 sections) since the last time I beat it I was fairly young (15) now I'm 21, so it makes more sense to me.

Oddworld games are awesome. Silent Hill deserves honorable mention. I n...

I haven't heard that they aren't either. They should definitely give us the option. Japan may think that type of stuff won't sell here, but we want the developers' true vision for the game, not something they thought of last-minute just to adapt to Western audiences. Give me Replicant. Nevertheless, my excitement for this game just went higher. As if I need another game to buy this Spring. Holy Macaroni that's a LOT of cash out my wallet from January-May.

On another note, anyone ...

You, sir, get major points in my book for what you wrote. Good on ya.

RPG Land? The same guys that gave FFXII a 9? Same guys that gave FFX a 8? Yeah, okay. I give FFXII a 3 and FFX a perfect 10. Basically, my point is we all have our own opinions, and everything I've seen from FFXIII has me super excited. This review won't change my opinion. I will be curious to see reviews from OPSM and the like, as well as English customer reviews. But day one collector's edition purchase for me, without regrets or doubts.

I read like 65% of the article, I'm also wary of spoilers, but this article steers clear of them from what I read. I would still advise against reading it, just for the sake of going in fresh. All this negative FFXIII press is making my head spin anyway.

Light Yagami is on every FFXIII story saying don't buy it. I sniff Microsoft in there somewhere.

On topic about FFXIII, this is only a preview, even if it is 25 hours in. If zlatko's comments are true about Chapter 11 (I have no idea, I ain't sniffing this game till March 9) then that reviewer is in for the shock of a lifetime. Personally, zlatko's comments got me super excited for this game even more than I was before.

@ Baka-akaB

Thanks for the bubbles lol. I see what you mean with Squall. I actually liked Squall (maybe it's because I was 11, and I haven't really beaten the game since then), but I do agree with your arguments about him. I won't say anything constructive until I play through FFVIII again when I get it on PSN.

I think people could respect Vaan, he reminds me a lot of Zidane actually. I think people couldn't get over the shock of a "different" FF, and I mig...

@4.1

I can see where you're coming from. With all due respect to XII, I thought Ashe was the only one who deserved to be there from the beginning. I loved the start of XII, but it was all downhill for me from there. Besides, I'm not one for politics too much.

I loved Vagrant Story so I'm not automatically put off my Matsuno's works. Guy has a distinctive style.

Zidane was awesome, I wish more people would give IX a chance. All its negative criticism is u...

I have no doubts about this game. I know I'm going to love it. Why? Same reasons I hated XII and the comment above. Due to non-linearity, I thought XII had no characters worthy of being there (no matter how much I love Balthier and Ashe), and the story was a heap of broken mess and completely uninteresting imo. I'm legitimately excited for XIII's story and I already love most of the characters, at least all the main ones. Reading that prequel novel only heightened my interest, so I can't wait...

Wow, am I the only one that actually likes that map? It reminds me somewhat of Mt. Gagazet from FFX. Besides, this is just ONE place. It looks to me like this is in Cocoon, maybe it's the place from that demo, I don't know. But people complaining about THIS? I'm officially done with this site, its articles, and all the comments until I have played and beaten this game. I'm going to love it based on everything I've heard so far. And yes, I like all facets of the game that I'm hearing about. So...

People listen to me here.

The game ends when the protagonist dies. Duh! If Lightning (or just one party member) is all you can control because of the nature of the battle system, you would have to die as soon as the one character you get to control dies. If you could play as the other members when the one you're controlling dies, you would all be complaining about "Oh why couldn't I just control them all from the start!?" The construction of the gameplay calls for such ...

From what I hear from everyone, I need to check out Demon's Souls. Looks more appealing to me than Dragon Age for some reason. Flower was an amazing and 100% unique experience. I didn't like inFamous at all, and I think Uncharted 2 should be number 1 for sure. The end made me cry not because it was sad, I was just blown away thoroughly. The writing in that game is unparalleled.

What a surprise, an RPG is linear! That's why they make side quests, to break up the so-called "monotony". Every game is linear in some way, that's how you accomplish your story goals. No one mentions the linearity of Uncharted 2, do they? Because the action covers it up. When people hear RPG, they automatically assume linearity, so this is no surprise. I simply cannot wait for this game, and I refuse to read any new news about because I do not want to be spoiled anything.

Final Fantasy XIII for my money. I think no matter what Heavy Rain won't win, not because I don't think it won't be good, but I see very boring gameplay from that game.

Wow to everyone hating on the regular FFXIII. The regular FFXIII is the main title in the Fabula Nova Crystalis saga. I think it'll be the best one out of them all. And why is it a girlie game? Just because the lead character is a female? If that's the case, you guys are all really shallow, and reserve full judgment till you play FFXIII and you see actual gameplay footage from Versus. Wow, people.

I thought my level of anticipation for this game couldn't get any higher. Me was wrong. Also, I'm growing more confident that this will be an amazing FF adventure, as I was thoroughly disappointed by XII. I have yet to see something in FFXIII that would make me worry
