It's the negativity we've grown so accustomed to in our society. It's really quite sad. I think you could live with linearity for 30 hours (9 chapters? however long it is till it opens up), and then it opens up and you can do lots of sidequests. I tell ya, as long as the story is good (seems like it is) then my complaints aren't warranted because everything else seems great as well. I recall extreme linearity in FFX till the Calm Lands, which was essentially 2/3 of the game in if memory serves me correct. FFX is the second best in the series in my opini...
I don't care. I just don't. Day one purchase for me. Seems like the reviewers problem is linearity, but that's been everyone's problem. I still say this game will be amazing.
Uncharted 2 is better than your life. And would eat up every 360 exclusive released in 2009 combined.
FFVIII and FFX soundtracks say hello. As well as FFIX, but I maintain FFVIII and FFX are my favorites in the series as a whole, followed by FFVII. The music I've heard from FFXIII is strictly amazing. Best normal battle theme ever. Ever!!

The greatest thing here is Uncharted 2 deserves all the hype it got and now all the awards it's receiving. It truly is the best PS3 game so far and one of the greatest gaming experiences of all time. Thanks Naughty Dog, thanks Sony, we gamers reap the rewards of these companies. Praise where praise is due, always.
I still think the game will be amazing, only because of what I like in an RPG. I don't like exploring aimlessly for hours on end, no towns actually excites me. Yes, I'm serious. Besides, the game allows side quests and other goodies near the end of the game, so I can do that stuff then. I never did side quests till I got near the end of an RPG or beaten it anyway, with the exception of Triple Triad in FFVIII.
On a related note, M$ needs to stop this ridiculous crap. They are ruin...

Based on his summary, it sounds to me like he enjoys the game very much. His criticisms are well documented like the lack of towns, but based on other reviews, the game opens up around 30 hours in or so. Maybe that complaint will be diminished.
I remember people alienated FFVIII because it was vastly different from FFVII, and I enjoyed it a lot. In fact, I'm playing it right now since I downloaded it off PSN.
The complaints I hear about FFXIII don't bother me one bit...

Glad to see FFXIII is so high on your list. If it falls between FFVIII and FFX on my list, then I'm in for one helluva ride. I think FFXIII will be amazing. Good list, btw, have no problems with it.

Everything else is a rental, only to save my wallet from a rape-induced coma of epic proportions.

Based on videos I've seen, the game is epic. I've been sold since 2006.
You just know the Top 10 has titles like FFXIII, God Of War III, Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 2, etc. It's just a matter of their order.

On par with FFX? I'm glad you said that because I watched a boss battle (trying to avoid spoilers but still get somewhat a sense of the gameplay) and it looks amazing to say the least. Bosses have a LOT of HP. This I like. I hear this is the hardest FF as well. FFX and FFVIII were no walks in the park, and I think that's due to the leveling system. I think Crystalium looks like a doctored up Sphere Grid, which is in no way a bad thing. Anyway, my point is after watchin...
