Hard to do an open world survival horror game. Linearity works best for this genre. However, I'm much looking forward to this game. And the HD Collection comes out the same month a this! Good time for Silent Hill fans regardless how this one turns out.
Only fighting games I can play after a few weeks of release are the Street Fighter ones. Mortal Kombat Trilogy still stands as my favorite fighting game with Super Street Fighter IV. I wanna try Soul Calibur V; any fans of the series wanna sway me?
Yes, the game has multiplayer.
I do not know if anyone still plays it. I imagine some people do.
The game does have trophies. Around 48, I think. Single-player trophies are your usual fair; the multiplayer trophies are time-consuming as hell. Think Resistance 2 or Lost Planet 2.
I'm only a couple hours in myself, but Far Cry 2 is enjoyable. Think of it as Dead Island in Africa with a greater focus on guns and no RPG elements.
I will wait for Mirror's Edge 2 for the rest of my life if I have to. I will do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to see it happen!!
I LOVE RPGs, but I could not get into this game. The plot is too complex for its own good, the interface is wonky, and it just draaaaaaags. I only made it through 14 hours before I lost interest in everything. It's just not very good.
Enough patches to get it right. If it's more than a few to fix the problems out the gate, then yes, the game was released with too many bugs.
RPG or not, this game looks fantastic! I hope this game turns out good. It has the potential to become a HUGE time sucker for me!
My list was in no particular order, but it's glad to see someone else excited for FFXIII-2.
01. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (LOVED XIII, sue me)
02. Mass Effect 3
03. Tomb Raider
04. BioShock Infinite
05. SSX
06. Tales of Graces F
07. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
08. Hitman Absolution
09. Dishonored
10. Silent Hill: Downpour
And many, many others.
Just another reason why Jaffe is far and away my favorite game developer. He looks at things from a fans point of view. Going against his advice though and buying Twisted Metal. Never played one before, but the features in this one seem so interesting. Plus you get TM Black for free!!
Spending a lot on games during Q1 2012, mainly for personal reasons. I need two surgeries, so I need as many games as possible! Lots of superb titles between now and April. Bring 'em on!
Silent Hill 2 gave me nightmares for two weeks, and I don't scare easily at all. That should give you an idea.
Yeah, back when RPGs were prevalent and featured great stories. I have confidence this year will be better with FFXIII-2, Mass Effect 3, BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider, etc.
Only games that had a decent story to me were Dead Space 2, Deus Ex, and Catherine.
As I prefer sci-fi over fantasy, I have to agree. I can't get into the Dragon Age series (and I do love fantasy), but I think the Mass Effect series is one of the best this gen, up there with the Uncharteds, Assassin's Creeds, and Dead Spaces.
Since they make up 46% of gamers, I say without a doubt.
Most hated? Not sure.
Most disappointing? Without question.
RAGE is probably my biggest disappointment this year. We were promised an open world with RPG elements. It had neither. It was just a bunch of quests and oh, by the way, we have to stop The Authority. Yeah, thanks for that. No story whatsoever, which sucks because it had SO much potential. How could they fail on that? The game should have been a 30 hour masterpiece; instead it was an average run of the mill shooter with tight gunplay. Oh yeah, maybe if they didn't spend 5 years on the gra...
Dark Souls is better, having played both. The atmosphere, and especially combat are much more rewarding in Dark Souls. Now, the world of Skyrim should be better, but after 20 hours, it got boring. I haven't got bored of Dark Souls yet. Skyrim isn't too big for it's own good; the problem is there is little variety.
However, as someone who hated Oblivion, I will say Skyrim is an amazing improvement and I will play the hell out of it someday. Just not right now.
Buying Graces F day one. Praying Xillia makes it over! That one looks even better!
