And that's great but this isn't about how many things you can play the game on when it comes to MS playing their games everywhere is common knowledge, the fact that its playable across the eco-system is the issue here. MS better price seriesX reasonably becasue if its too high and all of its games can be played on something its fan base already owns I don't see it selling well at all.
I don't care how you spin it or how many excuses you try to make for it not having a killer must own exclusive for your newly released console devalues its necessity and relevance. You're not taking away a choice you're adding value to it and I think MS not having a AAA exclusive, an exclusive at all really is not a smart play and will end up giving Sony an even bigger lead right out of the gate.
Definitely the right choice, its best to incentivize purchase potential buying having that must own title exclusive to your new hardware.
I feel like we'll be looking at more like a $499 console but what will win them next gen is the same thing that won them this gen, the games.
I agree with your first sentence we'll see it when Sony is damn good and ready to show it, lol. That being said the obsession comes from excitement and anticipation of a new console and all that brings with it, there's nothing wrong with that its hard to wait when your hyped for something.

I agree with you that Flight Simulator looks astounding and its on my must buy list for PC but just fyi in case you weren't aware what they've been showing for the game has all been running on a fairly stout PC setup so its most likely older tech will result in a significant downgrade.

Consumer choice is great but so is purchase incentive.
I don't think they're doomed but it seems like an odd way to launch your new system, can they not support their old system and still have an exclusive or two for their new system?

So you'd need two separate teams working on the same game to hit two different targets in order to release the games at the same time which sounds like a waste of time, money and resources
