What happened to this gen. The beginning was full of so much potential. It just died off for some reason. It's like all the fun was sucked away. Rainbow Six Vegas was a blast to play.

IMHO, just as in the case of the 360/ps3, once a certain sale mark has been reached you just have to call them both a success.
If the ps4 sells 100 million, and the XBone (who thought of that stupid name) sells 75 million, from a business perspective it's a win for both companies. On the other hand, if the XBone sells 100 million but makes Microsoft less of a profit than the ps4 selling at 75 million, then it's a different story.

It doesn't work like that even with Sony. There is probably some type of verification process that goes into place. You could return your console to GAME, saying it doesn't work just to get the same console with a new/free game.

Higher resolutions, better AA, better framerates.
What people call graphics (textures), better looking depends on the textures and engine that the dev uses. Mario Galaxy in 4k running at 120fps will not look better than Ryse at 900p 30fps or Killzone at 1080p 60 fps. Better textures are used.
