MS did not include a bus big enough to feasibly run games from an attachable HDDVD drive. In other words they couldn't use it even if they wanted to.
Like someone else said MS screwed up and screwed up bad. It may not be so apparent this year but in the second half of next year you will see PS3 games start to leave 360 titles in the dust.
In fact MS will LOSE this round of the console wars even more dramatically than it did with xbox1. And that was actually a goo...
