I got it running on a state of the art PC without so much as a hiccup @ 1920x1200(something the crapbox could never do) and all the graphical tweaks at their highest settings.

the technology is already there(even in your crapbox 360), all you have to do to make a game truly 3d is remove the zbuffer and vertex culling that is required for 3d projection on a 2d surface.
