Only MS knows the real reason for the shortage and I doubt they will tell any one and I don't think the shortage has any thing to do with the increase in PS3 sales. The reason for the increase is more must have games and I think the untruths from MS on the 360's quailty and word is getting around about a more soild failure rate being 16-18% the smart consumer wants quailty + fun at @ good price!
There would be nothing to rehash if MS would just recall their POS console and stop taking advantage of people just because they wanted to be first!! as long as there is 360's breakin there will always be something to talk about for along time it was the lack of games and cost for the PS3 but as for the 360 it has always been the same thing it breaks they all break and that is the truth no matter how u slice it!!!!!

When I still had my 360 that happened to about 8 times and I had an Elite with the Falcon chip set, I will admit it ran cooler and was not near as loud fan wise but the DVD was still just as loud and after 2 months it started not reading Disc's and the DVD drive just stopped working, overall the 360 is poorly built the parts such as the DVD drive are cheap and poor quailty the cost for a the new BenQ drive in the 360's is only 29.99 the bearings and Disc tray are very poor quailty and yet MS ...
Example: 9 million PS3's sold @ 2% failure rate= 180,000. 9 million 360's @ 16.4% failure rate= 1.476 million big diffrence. NOT GOOD!! The 360 has 1.296 million more broken consoles.
I guess every area is diffrent, My local Best-Buy has plenty of Pro systems and a few Elites but they have no arcades and the Target has 3 Pro's and 1 Elite and my GAMESTOP has only HALO editions 8 total.
The 360 has other issues like a poor quailty DVD drive to loud and no HD DVD or wi-fi and the HDD's are way to expensive $179.99 for 120GB I just bought a 160GB for my PS3 for $89.99 I admit there are alot of games! but the PS3 is gaining ground and had MS taken more time and testing this could have been the killer system.
You my sir are the moron it makes no diffrence if you can or cannot re-download the item's the XBOX 360 is still a very poorly built console with low grade parts! if it was better built not so many people would even have to deal with this. Name me a game console that has had so many problems and so many failures name one! even a 20% failure rate is to high and I think it might be as high as 30%. Buy a PS3 now. I did a 40GB then I bought 160GB 2.5 SATA hard drive for $89.99 replaced it. The PS3 will format your new hard drive in about 25sec. The PS3 is the best system around it has the best BLU-RAY movie player 2.0 and can be upgraded with firmware uodates. There are great games right now and more coming, I use to own a 360 but got tried of hardware failures and poor CS from MS.
Bill Gates knows whats going on he approved the org. launch the 360 is a flawed machine and the people who buy them and XBOX LIVE are losing money for nothing. If u own a 360 it will die someday and MS will replace it witha refurb. anf all your marketplace purchases will be lost, I think its a shame the way MS has treated their faithful consumers I feel bad for all of them.
Smart choice the PS3 is a great system. I have the 80GB and my son has the 40GB no problems at all very quite and rock solid hardware!!! Enjoy man!
Because of bad products, MS took this path now its time to pay the piper, I use to be a big MS fan the org. XBOX and then the 360 but with all the hardware failures 4 myself and 2 for my son I said thats it I agree their its ok we will replace it is BS and the PR MS has gotten is their own fault!!!!!
Microsoft knows what their doing? I hate to break the news to u but the only reason MS has the lead is because they chose to fool the consumer and sneak in the trojan horse into about 6 millon homes, 13 millon, the sales numbers are not acurate because of so many console failures. 1- Bill buys XBOX 360 from best Buy with 2yr PRP. 6 months later Bill's XBOX 360 has RROD he takes it back to Best-Buy they return his broken console and replace it with a new one in this step they scan the bar code...
SONY does not own the charts but they are ahead of the 360 and will continue to improve sales while the 360's sales will continue to fall. Thank God I got shut of my 360 worst built console in gaming History!!!!
This story maybe false but MS knows that the XBOX 360 is a faulty console poor design and cheap parts and a low quailty DVD drive. This console was rushed in design and manufacturing sorry people but SONY delayed their launch to work out problems with the console MS should have done the same but they were to GREEDY, MS will no longer steal my money for consoles,games and XBOX LIVE. I'm not surprized by this! the total amount of console's may be wrong. I know the GAMESTOP in the town in which I live the manager told me the have 9 systems that MS will not repair or replace this was the main reason that GAMESTOP stopped offering the product replacement plan on the 360, MS has taken advantage of the consumer and the 3yr warranty was just to stop a recall and lawsuits the 3 yr warranty was more cost effective. I own the import copy the landscapes and tracks are out of this world it runs 1080p @ 60fps controls are very tight EA could take lessons for their next nascar game drafting at Daytona is spot on..
The games are talking look at the attach rate for the Ps3 compaired to the 360. Better games sale more copies.

HELL YEA this will effect BLU-RAY sales they will increase because now people know that there is only one format, I feel sorry for the all the people who supported HD-DVD this has gotta hurt.
