Another gem to add to the stellar list of games next year. 2008 might very well be the best overall year for games.
Metacritic's "averaging" is flawed for that single aspect. The people will look at the overall score and ignore the 30ish 90%+ reviews and the two sub 80 scores will drag everything else down.
Watch the Gametrailers review and see the AI on display. I can forgive clipping, I can forgive repetition, I'll even forgive the lack of a jump button. But what I can't forgive is sophomoric AI that watches me kill a guy right in front of it then allows me to "hide" in the same motion and forgets the whole thing ever happened. I'm still getting it and I probably wouldn't give it a 7, but I can't blame 1up for saying so.
8/10 seems to be an appropriate score. It's a VERY gorgeous game but gameplay wise it doesn't bring much new to the table. Had Crytek not done a lot of this in Farcry it probably would have had a bigger impact. Since the genre is so saturated it's kind of hard to rate FPS's strictly on their own merits without comparing it to similar games, or even prior games from the developers. Um the AI stupidity is unforgivable. Seriously he stabbed the guy in the back WHILE the other guy was WATCHING hit "B" to "blend in" and the guy magically forgot what he JUST SAW. "Who's responsible for this?!" Wtf Ubi!? The combat I can forgive even though that's dumb too, 6 guys waiting for their friend to get stabbed in order to do something?

Yeah I'd have put those on the list, they epitomized the combat in God of War and it's Sequels/Prequels. Also aided in helping some shameless rip offs *ahem Ghost Rider, and Prince of Persia the Two Thrones ahem*. Give them some more utilitarian uses in GoW3 and we're good to go.

I got rocked for the first few levels until I got to grips with how to configure the combos and stuff. After that it became easier, it certainly wasn't a cakewalk but it wasn't overly punishing later on.
Man, you already know R2 is going to be running at 60fps since it's the same engine from the first and Ratchet. Insomniac is living up to their names man please give us super dope online warfare with vehicles from both sides!! I seriously don't know how they can improve the weapons from the first, but if anyone can do it it'll be them.

I'm actually glad it isn't coming, it'd be far too late to make as big of an impact as it would have if it came out when the PS3 REALLY could have used it in August. If it came out next year it'd have to contend with the games PS3 owners have been waiting for all along. Then we'd have another "blank game doesn't sell on the PS3, Sony is doomed they should sell off all assets and become electrohobos" story.
