@mrbun
your "friend" might want to follow that link to joystiq about the actual slide itself stating
>41.6mm ps3 units sold worldwide
>80% are connected to the internet
70mm psn accounts worldwide
just saying...from just hearing about it, one would think that it might be psn numbers but they show separate numbers for units sold and psn accounts, others would think typo, but it really is hard to have a 2 number ...
facepalm at however disagreed :/
they ban boosters, and thats what that guy did...he played with friends that would stand still, shoot to reveal their posistion, etc. to help the other team get the kills...they have been banning boosters for quite some time now, so it isnt something new
HOWEVER, with that being said, i do still think that the 501 kills vid was a combination of boosters and a flawed spawn system...they fixed one problem, now they have to fix the other
@Triella
where did you come up with $90 for manufacturing and shipping?
also, what you have just shown with your little example is that from here on out, every kinect sold will now be a profit of $60 more or less because the $500 marketing cost was already covered
EDIT: or to be more exact (cause i am slightly a math nut) with your numbers, once kinect sells 8.34mil they will have broken even, and THEN every unit sold is $60 profit
8mil x $150 = 1.2bil
1.2bil - 500mil = 700mil profit
yes, i know that its not exactly 700mil profit cause there is still all that manufacturing costs and all that business, but regarding that marketing cost, im pretty sure they made up for it
@Nitrowolf2
ic, missed that...then with 26 (27 for ps3) characters seems like their statement would be right, even if the "over 60" was just 61 fatalities lol...cause technically they wouldnt be lying
i think the fatalities are more complicated than just how much each character can do, cause there are ones that are character specific and ones that every character can do (ie, the uppercut into the pit)
so it really isnt as simple as "2-3 for each character"
wasted 3 bubbles in less than a minute...now THAT was brilliant
and yet the hardcore always use arcade sticks for fighting games
wonder what would have happened if sony released ps3 when 360 came out (prolly wouldnt have had the time to implement bluray) or if 360 released when ps3 released and had an extra year to do something with developement
i really wonder who benefited from that headstart
halo reach campaign LASO run aka mythic run is also certainly NOT easy
wait a sec...isnt time and commitment how you gain skill?
US, now UK? how could they miss their neighbors to the north canada? i mean we are RIGHT THERE :S
and guess who made frontlines FoW
edit...misread "in their first game" as "in another game"
"come on MS I'm looking for a reason to buy another xbox please give me one."
wait, WHAT?! a reason to buy ANOTHER xbox? for what?
with the human weapons, this guy compares a cannon and A bomb (which humans cant wield) to teh sniper and pistol (which humans wield)
that doesnt make sense...if he was using the cannon and A bomb as an example, why didnt he compare that to the MAC cannon that the humans use on thier ships?
the 2 notable human weapons that are "futuristic" are the homing rocket launcher, and the spartan laser
yes, halo takes its name from the halo ring, but halo is ALSO the name of the game series...it wouldnt make sense to release a game just called reach (the game that takes place on planet reach in the halo-lore) cause then ppl would think its a whole new ip and not part of the halo series
its like asking why metal gear solid or metal gear acid kept "metal gear" in their name when metal gear was the original series
yup...activision is SMART for doing it, the fans are STUPID for buying it
now for those of you that havent hit the disagree button and left after that first phrase, here is why i said it...the fans are literally showing that its ok for activision to sell the game year after year because they are buying it. Activision as a company were smart in seeing this trend (since cod4) and capitalized on it...so activision was smart and profited on the fans that bought the game year afte...
mrbeatdown...its not the value that given, its that they are actually giving something back
and this isnt the first time, there have been free full arcade games, the reward system (only in USA) free trial codes, avatar items, themes etc that have been given for free and yet its always the monetary value of said item that ppl make out to not be such a big deal
yes, this $1 they gave you isnt much, but add it to the other stuff theyve also given and it makes it...
might eventually lead to that...having both digital and hard copies sold side by side catering to both sides, those that like the hard copies, waiting in line and getting swag, and to those that dont care and just want the game at release
