It's over for Resistance, nobody cared about R3 and bombed, after the First one, Insomniac didn't know what to with it, "gamers" asked them to change the formula and the sequel was worst, IP is tarnished and people can live without it, it never took of, only got recognition and was played because there wasn't anything else to play on the PS3...
Lets see IF that's true, If Overstrike bombs, I can't see them doing much more than that, I mean if it sells bad EA will not give a s*** about it and the IP will die, at least with SCE, they were able to make 2 bomba-sequels after the first one which had a moderate success and that because it wasn't anything available on the PS3 in that time

Exclusives DO matter, thing is when they matter? at the beginning of every generation and first few years, that's when those game drive sales and make consumers jump in
Want an example? GT3, Gran Turismo 3 was available right after the PS2 lauch, what it did for the console is well known, that's what Sony forgot
No one is going to buy a PS3 for, let say, TM 5 years from launch because there are so many games out there that just only one exclusive does...
The online community on Xbox is huge, don't think they'll swap, for that N or Sony need to do all what MS Live does and for Free, not seeing it happening...
Funny thing is that they're going down thanks to that POS u-draw thing that bombed so hard in the HD consoles, ironically that thing sold s***loads and made money for them when it was released for the wii lol

you can't be more wrong, as for MS, they have the money and they want to conquer the living room, so they advertise to hell and back, Sony did the same with the PS2 and look were they ended, at the top, so yeah, advertisement works, nothing new here

Whatever, Average Joes buy Blu-Ray movies on Walmart or other stores and want to play those discs somewhere, that's where MS is smart, release a console that can play blu-ray, Video-Games and s*** so Average Joes see more packed value in the console and buy Xbox Next, simple as that :D
