Well, you need to consider the case of a "fallen giant" PlayStation 1 and 2 were the King of their respective generations, everyone thought story would repeat itself with the amount of success accumulated over the years, now look what happened :P
As for the other Sony stuff, they could have biuld the first HW+SW Ecosystem if they wanted knowing they make from 1.44 Disks to Big-@ss TVs, so bleh I only know that their TVs make the company bleed so much money that put...

Not gonna happen, people will not buy an updgraded console every 2-3 years, Consoles are made to last as long as they can, every gen last 6 years max
This gen is was going to last more, beacause the transition from SD to HD was too freaking expensive for Devs and Publishers and they wanted to get as much cash as they could, but when the Wii-U comes out, this gen will be left behind, doesn't matter IF Nintendo is playing catch up with tech ...

Though SCE is really Low and don't react fast, so instead of create some sort of balance with the games they release, they just throw them when they're done and that way games like:
KZ2 got crushed by RE5 by being released a week earlier than a big franchise sequel

RE0 and REmake were excellent games but everything was pre-rendered, so the real graphics came from the modeling of the characters and such not for the places all was in-game rendered pictures
And no doubt the GC was more powerful than the PS2, just compare RE4 on both consoles, the PS2 version has pale plastic-like skin on every character while the GC version looks way better...

I totally love the idea of the tablet-controller as a hud/inventory thing for games and obviously games will have better graphics, so bring it on!
