Nintendo profits from day 1 on HW, more raw power, more costly, no subsidized HW, higher price, so I'm sure they packed enough to make the leap in HW but without going nuts with the price-tag, the only thing that needs to be known is how much the U-pad cost

U-console is more powerful than current gen consoles, it's impossible to think it'll be on par with PS360 but it'll not hold much against the new systems from MS and Sony

PS3 and Wii launched in the same period, it took years to make PSN work like it does now, it's not perfect but can evolve and get better, no way Nintendo cannot try the same way and be OK by not having a online service like the competition offers at the moment

I didn't buy a PS3 at launch, not only because of the price, but also because the console didn't have to many games

Wii-U as for now by some leaks, has a custom 3 core CPU familiar to the Wii CPU but similar to X360 one, 1.5GB of RAM and a more powerful GPU based on some AMD/ATI 4k something series
Sony is going for at least 2GB of RAM and more modern GPU from AMD, rumors say custom 7850 and 4 cores CPU

Most devs are taking inspiration from U2 for their upcoming games, they're starting to use the same tools, like mocap in order to get voice and movements that will be featured in the game from the same Voice Actor, like Nolan North does in the Uncharted Series
