This is what The Patriots were warning Raiden about in MGS2. Useless information.

I remember following the development of that game intently. What a shame. It could have been great.

The bloom...it burns!!!

Definitely. More-so with the "original" fixed camera version. You couldn't pay me to play that version again.

(Jokes, I may for the right price).

Having only played 1 through to ODST, I've never "felt" like i'm missing out on anything new. The saga is complete & I am content.

Halo 1 - New System. New IP. New story. Amazing experience.
Halo 2 - Continuation of a story. A run up and marketing at a time where "Internet" was booming, and for a young 14 something kid, it was blast to be there to witness. Xbox Live was a dream.
Halo 3 - Midnight launch release. "The ga...

I'm going to break gamers down into three different camps on this issue:

1) People who aren't arsed about the lootbox system and will happily buy the game. Fair enough.
2) People who disagree with the lootbox system, but buy the game anyway. The Problem.
3) People who disagree with the lootbox system, decry it, and do not buy it. The Saviors of the Gaming World.

Assuming Number 2 is the biggest camp, they're the biggest issue...

I remember that Christmas 2002, getting Sunshine along with Rogue Squadron 2 & Spiderman. Great games!

MGS2 pushed boundaries. It was (and felt) like a nex-gen progression of the first game, riding the hype of a brand new console. The gameplay & graphics impressed.

MGS5? Open world games had been done to death by the time it came around. It didn't "blow you away" in the way MGS2 did on release, at least graphically. Gameplay was alright.

The main trait they share? Ridiculous storylines.

I enjoyed what I did in MGS5, but...

Wasn't a bad game. Clunky, but enjoyable. I still remember one of the loading screen captions; real poignant and deep...

"Our last drop of oil will be burnt by a tank."

I don't get this game. Just feels like 'another' in a sea of survival games with an odd concept and setting. Does 'look' good though.

I feel u dawg. The waypoint thing - definitely. It's the result of new breed of gamer who has no time to go a layer deeper in immersion.

Take the Skyrim comparison and switch Divinity with Morrowind.

As you say, Skyrim - You get a quest, a destination name and waypoint. Follow it.

Morrowind - You get a quest, a destination, a description of how to get there, a map to follow, written clues, NPC advice etc etc.
