It's because of the monthly subscription that allows it to continue being a great experience. Other F2P MMOs are crap in comparison.
1. Both systems are backwards compatible.
2. After shipping and ebay fees and the risk of being scammed it's about the same. Some would argue the simplicity of trading in is better.

If you're a "P5 Fan" you would already have played it to completion and then some on PS3/PS4. No persona fan would realistically wait years for a port that may never come.
PC + PS5 and Switch has you covered. No one needs an Xbox.

Sony acquired Insomniac for less than 300 million. That one studio is putting in WORK. Released Spider-Man in 2018 with 3 DLC now Miles Morales and a new Ratchet & Clank.
"Xbox has no games" is referencing their lack of compelling exclusives. Essentially making the point, why get an Xbox when you can play the same games AND a dozen+ blockbuster exclusives.
Hopefully that trend changes this generation. With the Zenimax/Bethesda acquisition I have high hopes. Microsoft is invested in gaming for the long term which will only inspire all the platform holders.
