Sure Kinect for casuals is all about controller free gaming, but for hardcore surely having something extra to heighten the experience is what we're after.

There's obviously technological constraints on Lionhead, and time/budget issues. Microsoft does want the games to come out this millenium despite Peter wanting to add more stuff and continually work on the games. I see what you're saying, but as with any game, improvements with each iteration is something to strive for, and as gamers something we should demand and expect.

Hardcore gamers are well connected to their Xbox 360s and when something new comes along, they want to feel a part of that or feel that it's geared some way towards them, enabling them to enhance the experience they already have. So when Natal was announced there was an air of anticipation and to a degree excitement. This has now all been dashed because Kinect does nothing for hardcore gamers which means they feel disengaged from the whole process.
