Just look at the first meeting with Dante & Vergil in DMC3. Dante tells Vergil this party sucks. Vergil says in a classy way he's sorry and didn't have time for preparations. It still wasn't the old combat. They just improved what DmC combat was but still is a far cry from DMC4 even let alone DMC5.

Capcom wanted the original release to sell 2 million. Which was lower than DMC4 sales. When they were not on track for that 2 million they lowered it to 1.2 million. The numbers only went up when they re-released it on everything else and even then DMCHD collection performed relatively better. Get over it. Donte is dead and the real Dante lives. Amazing game. I been replaying it a bunch. Now playing it with live action cutscenes. There is no other way to play this game now lol.
All I really want is Daemon X Machina,Astral Chain & Bayonetta 3 (if it's 2019 which is doubtful)

According to the VA for Dante. Itsuno was ready to quit Capcom if they made DmC2 over letting him make his own game with DMC5. Says it all really.
