Most of the 155 million PS2's sold came during the PS3 years. I also sold many of them. $80 console was very appealing to moms. Esp with a whole wall of games. PS2 took up more space than anything else at that time that we had.
PS2 did ok during the PS3 days.

They nearly went bankrupt and Sammy bought them. After that a lot of the staff left and then the 7th gen hit when Japanese games didn't do so hot and they are just living on a rep now.
There is a Virtual On game that came out in 2017 in Japan for PS4. It has a tie in but still plays like a VO game.

Kadokawa owns FromSoftware. Atlus is owned by SEGA. Level-5 is releasing all their games on Switch now. So those three are out. Period.
