I actually took the time to read one of the Mass Effect books because of how interesting the sci-fi world is and I think I agree it's the most important sci-fi in gaming this generation and perhaps all entertainment. I can't think of any sci-fi movies, tv or books that've caught my attention the way Mass Effect has.

The only game world that was at all interesting to me in a sci-fi model was the Killzone universe. Unfortunately the unflinching focus on the main c...

Tough call. I'm fascinated by each of these sci-fi games. But I think in terms of actual "universe" we've seen a lot more from Mass Effect, though Dead Space has been much more up close and personal from the events on the planet where the marker was found, to the Ishimura, and back onto Titan in the events of Dead Space 2. I just don't think they've gone as in depth with the world surrounding Dead Space as they have with Mass Effect (which is really a shame consid...

Can't stand escort missions ever since that stupid chick in Goldeneye for N64 kept getting in the line of fire and dying, I've hated, hated these and pretty much every single fakking FPS I play has an escort mission of some sort.

And of course DLC. I'd say who doesn't hate it, but then, people buy it, so developers keep making it. The only DLC I've bought were the packs for Warhawk, and the DLC for Borderlands. These were 1gb downloads which means they ...

I hardly ever play my UMD games anymore since I've beaten them like crazy and started making the digital switch a few years ago. Still don't fully like the idea of the Vita not being compatible though and the only reason I never picked up a PSPGO was because they never came through on their promise on the UMD program where if you had the game, they'd let you download it from the PSN. Supposedly they're doing this for VITA, but I think I read that you've got to pay for it...

Had to comment:

Yearly releases that do nothing to add to the game.

I used to be a hardcore football gamer: Madden and back when I used to play then the NFL 2K series on Dreamcast and Xbox. But every single year, a new one, with nothing really different. Got sick of it, then just stopped playing them all together.

I disagree with limiting used sales, however, used game sales do shrink the profits from a game developer. If their highest sales are made when a game first comes out, they should implement a no used games policy for the first few months, then after that, open it up for used game sales. I see no problem with this. Developers are trying to protect their investment when a game goes to market, but once the firestorm to buy the brand new game dies out, they shouldn't try to restrict the us...

Can't remember if it was 100 or 200 lightning dodges in this, all I know is I got to within 10 and my palms got so sweaty and my mind and relfexes were so numb that I messed up.

Back then though. . .I was much more hardcore than I am now. After messing up, I sat there and did it all over again until I got it.

I think my eyes were bleeding from staring at the screen without blinking for so long.

Would've bought it day one if I knew there wasn't going to be a super ultimate championship extreme edition. There will probably be another edition coming out soon, so I just don't buy Capcom fighting games anymore.

Nope. Demo sucked. Thank God for demos. I'd be without lots of money in my pocket if I'd purchased all the games I thought would be good but turned out to be turds.

Agree. I'm not usually into the more kid-looking JRPG's out there, but this game is just absolutely gorgeous to look at.

It took decades for a solid format to writing movies came into place. Doesn't mean every movie has to possess the "standard" format, just that once the format hit (think Citizen Kane or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), it elevated the entire movie industry up from the dregs of mediocre entertainment to a viable art that could stand on the shelf of classic literature.

Video gaming as a whole is still in its infancy. The strides it's made in so short a t...

Wow 15 years? I was selling this game in Target when I was 15. Time sure does fly.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO SHHHHIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTT TT!!!!!!!!!!!! Really? I totally didn't see that coming. Nor will I see the Super Turbo, Super Turbo FX Grand, Ultimate, Ultimate Turbo, Ultimate Turbo Championship, Ultimate Turbo Championship FX Legendary . . . and on and on it goes for every single one of their fighting games. Which is why I never buy them ever, again. I thought I'd learned my lesson from the Genesis days, but I was so impressed with Street Fighter IV that I was bl...

Thought the graphics were like 2-3 years old and the camera was kinda wonky. Fixed when I turned the sensitivity down. Only thing I'd like is a slightly pulled back camera angle. Doesn't have to be fully top-down, but at least a little bit.

If this is true, damn. I don't even think Titanic or Avatar cost this much to make.

Yay, somebody else gave Toy Commander some love! That was an awesome multiplayer game.

And hands down, Skies of Arcadia is still in my top 5 JRPG's of all time, maybe top 3. One of the only reason I even bought a Gamecube was because my Dreamcast finally died and I wanted the director's cut of Skies on the Cube.

Shenmue was way ahead of its time. Groundbreaking doesn't describe it, and people were definitely not ready for it considering the lac...

Grandia 2 also released on PS2, maybe why it wasn't on the list, but still a freaking amazing RPG.

FF 12 is the one that actually turned off the series. Didn't even try 13, so had no real expectations with the demo for 13-2. Graphics seemed awesome, at least battle, once I started running around they looked worse. But the battle system was terrible. Maybe I needed a better tutorial, but it was boring as hell. These hybrid turn-based or active systems have all progressively sucked since FF7 and this one was terrible. The only thing that even kept me playing the opening boss fight ...

It's probably not on there because of what this article is about: pirates. They haven't released numbers for how many people copied the game illegally, but you can bet that by not having generated that income from those sales, they essentially scrapped the PS3 version because it would've required extra money to code for it. . .money that they would've rightfully earned from the purchase of those pirated games.

What they need to do is invest heavily in paying off the game industry news machine as well as all reviewers so that they don't continue to nitpick and crucify absolutely every little thing in a Sony exclusive where the same issue in a 360 title gets a pass.

Hate to say it as well, but they've also got to shell out money for exclusives from 3rd parties because that would shock the gaming community the same way Microsoft did with everything they accomplished this gen. ...
