It would have got a lower score had ID not done it. People have a respect for ID where if a lesser known company people would have ripped this to shreds over the ending, lackluster story while comparing it to fallout and borderlands.
Read the presentation and then remember what the multiplayer actually is.... car combat.
8.5 is a very generous score considering graphics don't make a game.
I think we are starting to see things waken up a bit. With the popularity of games like Portal, Borderlands, and the like I think devs are seeing that we love destroying AI with a buddy or two.

I think if gearbox worked an entire new game from the ground up people would enjoy it. Not just humor wise but gameplay elements as well.
They stayed true to the project and I respect that. I would be interested to see a new generation of duke properly developed by people who understand timelines!!
