Could AR be used as shown in the Minority Report movie? There was the scene where Tom Cruise is using gloves to flip through footage, or where he is watching the memories of his family projected on a wall in his home.
@Jdoki
Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of those kinds of things but I guess that is what the modding community is for, huh? Alas, I don't own a PC and my macbook is very old. Perhaps when I can afford to update my laptop then I'll seek it out.
I'm definitely interested on finding out more on the multiplayer aspect of the game.
I personally think VR is better at immersing the player into a game, because all you will be seeing is the game world. AR projects the game onto real world objects but this could have its uses in some games. @rigo8582 suggested Lazer Tag on steroids. This could work in the future. Imagine you are on a university campus wearing your AR glasses and holding a controller of some kind. Your AR displays a HUD with your stats (armour, ammo, health). Your teams objective to eliminate the opposition (...
Good point. No Man's Sky looks to be more like an exploration game with the goal of making it to the centre of the galaxy by trading resources and upgrading your ship.
Personally, Minecraft doesn't really interest me, maybe because there is too much freedom and I lack creativity. Same problem I ended up having with Lego.
In any case I will buy No Man's Sky because I do like Sci-fi games and I never did finish Elite back in the day.
Well, I'm amazed at the game. I can't wait to play it. Pre-ordered my copy weeks ago with both sets of DLC.
Interesting article as always Abriael.
Samsung and iphones dominate the smartphone market almost everywhere, as does the iPad. Sony would indeed be smart to go after that market.
It sure does suck up money from gamers.
I guess MS definitely were prepared when Facebook bought Oculus Rift. No freaking way were they going to let Facebook and Sony control the social and gaming 'virtual space', huh?
Sweet Jebus. I hope not. That would really grind my gears.
Could the AR work with Kinect? For instance, if you had an AR cockpit around you, could you use gestures to 'touch' the controls? (I'm thinking something like an AR version of that Steel Battalion game).
If what you wrote comes to pass, then Sony could certainly miss out on being first with a lot of indie games past, present and future unless they fund them. Eventually it could signal the PS4 being the last Sony console, maybe?
In regards to 3rd party development, it could get complex and expensive to try and build 3 versions of the same game (Oculus Rift, Morpheus and HoloLens), huh?
This is real next-gen stuff VR/AR etc. I hope it really takes off. Price and content will be key, and MS already has the killer app in Minecraft.
Okay. So you still need an Xbox One but you can take the game on the road with you (tablet and controller)?
Does this mean Xbox One can have TV, Sports etc. with this device?
Is this historically accurate?
Okay. I clicked on the video because of the picture.
That would make sense (and be totally awesome) for the Metal Gear saga to come full circle into a remake for Metal Gear 1 & 2. But would Kojima want to continue with the story or hand it off to someone else?
The Order 1886 could shift some consoles, despite what some critics have said about the game.
Moustaches and Arc Rifles for everyone!
Why are the PS3 and 360 tags attached to the article? I though Evolve was PC, PS4 and XB1 only? The other two are PS4 games.
