Summary of the debacle:

Sony: Pre-orders live Thursday!
Walmart and Retailers: F U Sony, everyone pre-order now today Wednesday!
Media and unreasonable consumers: Sony F'd up and should be lynched!
Sony: We're sorry.

While this is true, DLC, microtransactions, subscriptions, and season passes have helped offset the "traditional" set cost per title. Also consider titles sell in millions now, compared to hundreds of thousands.

So the price hike to $70 isn't that justified, just my opinion.

Recommended specs is probably for 1080p 30fps lol

I see what you're saying, they could have mentioned it during the presentation. However I think the problem was that it was pre-recorded with no idea of the actual pre-order dates.

So yes they could have included that somewhere though. A 5 second blip on the screen saying "Pre-Order this day" would have helped.

The cluster though was the retailers not giving a F about the date. So it may have not mattered. Compound that with the scum of the...

@GottaBjimmyb Agreed. The entire market has to collectively start ignoring the scalpers. People who cave in (idiotically) to buy from them is what keeps the scalpers alive and do what they do.

Also if any moron is willing to pay $1500-$2000 for a 3080, they should just wait for a damn 3090. Come on people.

Adding in also, it's been shown for the past decade, when developers only worry about ONE configuration, the end result is better. We can go as far back as the PS3, where multi-platform titles early on really suffered, but boy those PS3 exclusives were amazing.

The same will be said for the PS5 in year 1-2, when a pure PS5-only exclusive comes out (thinking GoW Ragnarok) they don't have to think about dumbing it down and can try to utilize 100% of the PS5's spe...

Let's not be too dramatic, the Series S I think is a great product for people on a tighter budget, especially right now with unemployment so high and COVID destroying lives.

With that said, I think anybody that is potentially thinking about a Series S, should just try to get a PS5 digital. That $100 difference, you get SO much more. The full PS5 experience just without the disc drive.

Hellllll yeah Demon's Souls is the #1 game I can't wait to play. One of those gems I enjoyed on the PS3 seemingly out of nowhere. I remember trying to get a Japanese copy, but it ended up coming to the US anyway.

They're all in on the vents. MS has learned from previous mistakes at least, in terms of cooling.

I agree, "1.4" and "2.0" will work just fine. I think you're trying to tell people, that if it works, it works, regardless of the rating.

HDMI 2.1 though, seems to be an actual leap in bandwidth and might not be just a marketing gimmick this time. We'll see

Once again the answer is always, and will always be, it depends.

Turn off the FPS counter and stats, play the game. If it doesn't feel smooth to you, then upgrade! If it doesn't bother you, then keep your current setup.

It actually looks very nicely designed, but we all have to wait to see how it performs.

Aww I thought this was on switch. I really enjoyed the first game though

It doesn't quite work that way, but theoretically yes it should be faster.

All in all I'm just happy this was a huge focal point for both MS and Sony. So long have we been held back by slow spinning HDD's

I'll also add, the problem with resolution is that it's just a marketing tagline. Native resolution this current generation (PS4/XBX) have dynamic resolution anyway. And MS already said "up to" which is the keywords to skate around what it could actually be running at.

Actually yes that was a bad example, Cyberpunk in particular ain't doing 1440p 60fps lol

2108d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

It's going to depend on the title. (Sorta obvious)

Something like Overwatch or Fornite, you can probably expect 1440p 120fps, it's certainly doable.

But Cyberpunk? Crysis Remake? Anything that is expected to tax PC hardware? I'd say 1440p 60fps is more realistic.

Mine will be upside down, because no reason

Dude... that's not how console development works...

Why do you think the overwhelming industry narrative this generation, is about I/O?

Hard Drives have been the lowest denominator for so long, which is a bottleneck on either consoles or PC games. That's why Nvidia, Microsoft, Sony, AMD, etc. all tout about how fast NVME is, and how great fast storage is for gaming.
