Well that's a shame. So much for my hopes that the team would mature a bit after his leaving.
I can certainly see why they'd make the transition, though whether it succeeded in bringing in the expanded audience it wanted I'm not yet sure. Still, even if the transition is justified, that doesn't really negate the complaints. Like, I sympathize with the complaints even if I think Tecmo Koei shouldn't really listen to them.
The thing is, for the most part, you're talking about objective improvements. Movies becoming color is more like the advancement of gaming graphics than subjective changes that the fans are complaining about. It doesn't really equate. More appropriate comparisons would be how movie genres have changed over time to fit certain ideas of what moviegoers want, and even then people wanting for more traditional films aren't wrong or whiny. As consumers, we want products that appeal to u...
It's always cool to see throwbacks like these in modern games.
I dunno. If you change a series' tone you're going to upset longtime fans, and the developers had to know that going into it. I haven't played the game, so I can't comment on the validity of the complaints, but I can see what would inspire them.
I think the argument was less that that is a thing that should go away altogether and more that there should be a balance in who you're trying to appeal to and it should be done in a way that fits the rest of the game. Basically, if you're going to have half-naked women in your game, throw in some half-naked men. (The kind that would appeal to women and gay men, specifically, rather than more Kratos)
Huh, that's actually pretty interesting. More than what I was expecting for this game.
I think I have more faith in PlatinumGames to make a quality action game, given the pretty decent quality of Mad World and Bayonetta, but I'm hesitantly excited for both games.
The game starting off with a QTE concerns me a bit, but I'll probably still give it a chance. Really hurting for a decent action game lately.
What I've seen makes it look like it's trying for some variety, which certainly gives it a chance. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
I don't see why not. I certainly hope the next generation brings a focus to more than just how pretty a game is.
I wouldn't mind seeing a new protagonist for Splinter Cell. To be honest, I think a lot of long-running franchises could use new ones.
Glad to see Bioshock Infinite on the list, but I wonder what it says about me that the games I'm most excited for this year aren't any of the major releases...
Counterpoint: FFX does not have the ATB meter. As such, its combat does not punish you for taking the time to think and its attack animations do not punish you due to some arbitrary timed element. The sphere grid is a well-executed and fun leveling system. You're able to switch party members out at will. There's an incentive to use a variety of party members due to the different skills each character has. (In contrast with VII, where you can blow through the game with very little devi...
Vagrant Story's ending twist really is jawdropping. Worth playing the game for that alone.
As a horror fan, Deadlight looks sweet. Can not get enough of the genre, so I hope Deadlight lives up to it.
That's good. I'm hoping for a stronger E3 showing this year than last year's. Hopefully some more new IPs or new entries in series that we don't see on a semi-yearly basis.
It'll be interesting to see if it's still able to draw a major crowd today, and what sort of changes they do bring to it.
I get trying to bring in new audiences, but I do find myself missing certain design elements of classic Resident Evil.
Yeah, though I definitely intend to give them a chance, nothing I've seen has made them look that great, so them getting semi-low review scores isn't much of a surprise.
