i think you are missing the point. he's saying if they surprised everyone and launched it. it would be against the norm but that's what the word "surprise" means. so no they wouldn't have anything leading up to the launch if that was their goal. PLUS i don't think The Last Of Us needs promotion to sell the game.the title sells itself.

it won't just be 2 generations of conventional hardware. no, Sony understands that MS is going for the casual gamer, the facebook/cellphone casual gamer. Sony will make traditional hardware as long as people support it and i believe they will relish the fact that the hardcore gamer will support their consoles. this is why they have invested in AAA games today and for the future.
MS is a software company where as Sony is a hardware company so it only makes sense.
