It has a cheaper price tag and they have a bigger profit margin per console (cheaper to manufacture) which they can push a lot of deals at retailers.

As for the idea I think it's a distraction.
It makes sense to announce the PS4 before E3 so then when E3 rolls around it will be all about focusing on the features and the games. Also, announcing before E3 will give Sony it's own platform and the news of the PS4 will dominate the airwaves for months leading to E3. World wide production has ended for the PS2 to make room for the PS4. I know Beyond is the last big game to have a release date but Sony has shown they are willing to release a big game on an old console while the new one...

This is going to be a problem for Nintendo this yr and definitely beyond especially when PS4/720 arrive. Publishers don't think it's worth porting over. This is like the Wii to a certain extent all over again.
Incorrect. The difference was not 250k because both fiscal results were released a month apart. 360 had a 1 month lead over PS3 and PS3 actually outsold 360 world wide for the holidays and for the year by over 1.5 million.
If Sony and MS come out around the same time and will most likely will have some sort of the same price. MS will have no chance beating Sony next-gen in world wide numbers. Even this gen with Sony releasing a year late in the U.S and Japan and a year and half late in Europe while being the most expensive system this whole gen yet PS3 is on pace to surpass 360's total numbers in 2013.

Sony doing great in Europe but they need to bring the 12 GB model to America because for one the cheapest PS3 you can buy is $269.99 while for Xbox is $199.99 and even at some retailers $179.99. Big price difference in America and it's been like this for pretty much this entire gen. Sony needs to even the playing field even though they are still doing great in sales. With PS4, Sony needs to come out in 2013 and have a competitive price point and they will no doubt win next-gen.
