Actually it's not that simple, The DS brand is a lot stronger around the world then the PSP brand which is most likely why Sony dropped it.
The PSP though always did really well in Japan, hence the tons of awesome J-RPG's on the system.
So it's a little worrying that a system who's predecessor sold so brilliantly in Japan is now selling poorly there.
The PSP was never a hit in the UK or the USA why the DS most certainly was. ...

All the maps on FF7 well 90 percent of them are 2D do you know what happens when you HD 2D images?
Do you know what happens when you put FF7 characters in HD? answer they look like ass. There's not way a new FF7 game could anything other then a remake. It's not like FF10 it doesn't have easy to upgrade 3D models and settings. ...

One dev said it would take 10 times longer to make then FF13, this is the sort of generalization people make all the time when they don't have an answer or wish to blow off a question.
He didn't latterly say it will take 10 years to develop a FF7. Just the sheep's and the people will the inability to read on n4g took it that way...

Quite simply the games not even out yet it could be completely horrible even worse then FF XIV. Lets not pretend you have seen enough of it to decide otherwise.
I get that type-0 is already out and you could of played the Japanese important but I find that unlikely also.
