At the end of the day, we have both options, I bought probably 70% of the games this generation digital and the other 30% special editions in physical, I will still buy the disc version of the console, but for a lot of "casual" gamers that probably only buy COD and Madden every year, they will surely go digital only.

WTF are you even talking about?, It's not about when they started development or when they were announced, it's about when they are released and we have gotten MULTIPLE GOTY level quality games EVERY single year including this one (the last one of the generation) with Dreams, Concrete Genie, Death Stranding, TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima for PS4.
All of this while on the other corner they're releasing Honey I shrunk the kids the game, Gears Tactics for PC and Blee...

They're declining because they've been out for 7 years, most of the people that wanted one, got it + they still cost basically the same to buy as when they launched taking into account the tech inside.
Unfortunately with the Indies it's a situation of "Shame if you do, Shame if you don't", they've been criticized for both showing Indies in their presentations and for not doing it at all, unfortunately it's the nature of the business, these developers need a showcase as well and a 2 minutes sizzle reel is honestly disrespectful to the work of these developers.
Definitely agree with you on that, love it how it shows they're all under the same umbrella while at the same time keeping their individuality.
