steam allows you play your DL'd and installed games weather your online or not. Steam also doesn't set off a time bomb in your games that kills them if you don't log in within a certain time frame.
So NO they were nothing alike other than the digital distribution part, please get your facts straight.
there is a difference between getting a patent for something and actually trying to put something out to market and force it down peoples throats.
they will put that right in the TOS that noone reads. And it will state that you won't be able to do a thing about it after agreeing to the TOS.
I will never ever buy anything Xbox related again because MS told us what they want the future of gaming to be and they will continually try to get it through just in smaller steps now.

PS4's original launch day bundle was unavailable in a matter of hours, MS is going into it's 2nd week.
And also anyone who doesn't think that all these BS DRM issues won't be patched back in later is in for a rude awakening imho. If I was buying a XB1 I would read every word of the TOS because I would bet that it will be stated in there some...
Of course you need to be online to DL the game off of Steam, the biggest difference was once the games were DL'd from Steam you can play them online or offline and not need to check back in with Steam so they wouldn't kill your games.
MS was ready to kill all the games you paid for if you didn't check in and the excuses they were using were complete BS!

I don't understand why the gamnes just can't be stored in the almighty cloud and shared with whoever you want? The only time you should need to connect online is if you added something to the share folder and needed it be uploaded to your cloud data.

I'll be able to remote play all my digital PS4 games & which ever game I chose to leave in the BR drive with my Vita no matter where I am, Suck that MS.
MS could allow only you to access your installed games from anywhere but the big cry baby has to take it completely away because they weren't allowed enough control over you.

When you go back online everything should just be able to update automatically from the cloud. The 24 hour was just a crock of BS to try to gain more control over you & your purchases.
If the cloud is unable to update your game data based off the last time you logged to the current date then all this calculation and super computer in the cloud was just more BS from MS.
I just don't trust them to not patch all the DRM/restrictions back in after they hit a certain sales plateau. And I also still feel that they will stop supporting the core gamer with nothing more the multiplats after so much time like these last few years on the 360.
MS is in the NO BUY ZONE for me, I know what they want and where they want to be and it's just a matter of time until they try the samething again.

my thoughts exactly they will just patch it all back in over time with mandatory system updates. MS still wants the samething but know they need the sales too, so ease up early and then once we hit a certain amount of consoles sold we start to reimplement it back in.
I don't trust them as a company to not back pedal on a back pedal.

I also think like with the 360 that after the initial launch window with lots of games that they will slowly stop releasing them like the last 3 years or so with the 360.
For me MS has entered the NO BUY ZONE and once your there I usually don't take you out, looks over at Crapcom & Antivision.
Enjoy your purchase hope it is all you want it to be. I have zero interest in the XB1 and nothing anyone says will change my opinion on it.
Thanks Death but no thanks I don't want any MS console in my rotation anymore. I don't like where MS is trying to take the gaming industry and will have no part in them being successful in getting there.

Sorry MS you are the greedy odd man out in my rotation. The 360 will go into my collection in storage along with all my other old game consoles & games.
it's MS's fault and as long as the continue to treat the indies in the manner they are I would expect alot more of the same type of articles.
