Digital distribution of video content is limited/held back by studios and regional laws.

If every country had the same laws and studios were the same all over the world then it would make it MUCH easier for Sony to launch the Video Store worldwide.

Home is launching worldwide because it is owned by Sony.

Microsoft paid MILLIONS to Rockstar so GTA:IV would go multiplatform and so they would get exclusive DLC.

Microsoft wouldn't waste money to get FFXIII released in Japan since it DEFINITELY wouldn't sell well enough to make up for the money to convince Square to release it there.

Anyways, I agree with the blogger, except for the part about 360 getting an inferior version since Square said both will be the same... except for multiple discs.

By the way, I a...

Killzone 2 is just as detailed as the target trailer. The only difference is the color.

Why? Because this first stage is taking place in a part of the planet that is full of dark clouds where the sun can't shine through. Just wait till you get to a different stage where the sun actually shines through.

If you didn't know, Killzone 2 uses differed rendering which allows them to use multiple(even over a hundred) different light sources each dynamically effecting multip...

Yes, I'm pretty sure they'd HAVE to... otherwise they'll get ducked review points.

But Killzone 1 had multiple different environments, and I'm sure Killzone 2 will follow the same path. Hell, they might even come up with literally out of this world ideas for jungles, forests, beaches, etc since this IS a different planet.

Or they might just make it kind of similar to Earth but more polluted. Either way, they'll definitely have some colorful stage in there some where....

"titntin" already made the statement I wanted to make... but MUCH better than mine.

Anyways, I'm still laughing at people who thinks Killzone 2 wouldn't be possible on the PS3 if it had more color. XD

Konami wanted to make MGS4 multiplatform.

But you should trust Kojima, he declined their offer COUNTLESS times.

Konami couldn't do nothing to change Kojima's mind, because they know he can leave them any time. He already has his own studio, and Sony would be willing to buy him the moment he leaves. ^_^

Everybody knew FFXIII technically had the chance of going multiplatform. The game was developed on a multiplatform engine. The only reason people thought it would be exclusive was because Square said so 2 years ago, and because none of the real FF's have ever been released on an Xbox console before.

But MGS4 is a different story. It was never built on a multiplatform engine. Kojima Productions built the engine solely for PS3. It would take years to port the engine to 360 and re-w...

Shinji Hashimoto: "No, the development of a 360 version won't necessarily affect the PS3 version, purely because the PS3 game will be completed first. That's been in development for some time and is still on schedule."

That means PS3 Japan gets it first... a few months later, the rest of the world gets PS3 FFXIII.

Then 6-12 months later, 360 gets FFXIII.

But you know what? Square has said their decisions aren't final. Which is why they're finis...

You just haven't seen Sony's TGS showings yet. Not to mention the big announcement Square is yet to make.

I find it intriguing that Sony wasn't surprised at FFXIII going multiplat. In fact, that news didn't even seem to bother them... AT ALL.

Yet Square has some big announcement to make that somehow relates to FFVII?

There's only one logical conclusion. Square-Enix decided to remake FFVII or make an FFVII:AC game. They told Sony, Sony okayed it.

Then Microsoft offers multiplat deal for FFXIII, and Sony doesn't care because they already got the FFVII exclusiv...

GTAIV sold a lot better on PS3. PS3 also sold more software than 360 even though it came out years later.

Multiplatform games only prolongs the console war. It blurs the line between the 360 and PS3. The decision to buy a certain console is made even harder because of multiplatform games.

And no, most people don't want to waste hundreds of dollars just to get both systems when in the end most of the blockbuster games are multiplatform anyways.

There are even more important reasons why blockbuster multiplatform games aren't good for the industry. But I'm sure you guys get...

"Sony were supposed to be supplying the CD gubbins & thought the deal was struck when Nintendo backstabbed them & annouced they were working with Philips instead. Sony then made the decision to make the PS1. In the meantime SE were making FVII with CD-Rom tech in mind but then Nintendo totally dropped the CD-Rom and opted to stay with cartridge."

Square didn't betray Nintendo. Nintendo betrayed Sony AND Square. Thus, Square had no choice but to develop for Plays...
