I don't understand the problem. You buy the game console to play games. (I also don't believe multiplayer should be behind a paywall) Although, if you want the other stuff, it makes sense to pay for it.
I wouldn't see why Xbox One doesn't have the better Apps/Features. I don't think you can Skype someone while you're playing a game on PS4.

I'd be fine if it didn't have an online mode. I just want the feeling of something like storming the beach at Normandy in Saving Private Ryan. Something that makes it feel like it's life or death. Anything along the lines of Flags of our Fathers and Iwo Jima. Or it could be based on the battle from We Were Soldiers, being outnumbered and stranded with the only reinforcements coming from 3 helicopters every few hours.

Xbox One supports Direct X 11.1, and they've stated it will also get it alongside the PC version.
It would be quite nice if it was for all users, but if it's locked behind a Gold Membership, I think that this is a nice incentive if you decide to pay for it.

There's a reason why there's a genre called "Survival Horror." You don't fight, you survive, through various means. Running, hiding, and outsmarting enemies to save precious resources are what makes Horror... Horror. When you throw all that out the window, you get Dead Space 3... Or even Resident Evil 6.
