"grizzled or queer" kind of assumes that having birdy plumage hair and clear skin and a thin body and face = homosexual. Kind of assumtive, yeah? It also assumes that being all muscly and hairy and unshave = straight. What?
A lot of the discussion around these titles, it seems, is differing expectations as to what scares us. Western horror seems to come from the "jump out unexpectedly" school of horror, while eastern horror seems to stem from the slow build/creep factor. Both can be valid and effective. This game, however, sounds to be firmly in the first school.

I think sub-par is something we spend too much time on. Ignore the shovelware, and read gamesareevil for the good stuff. Or any one of 100 other gaming sites. I have a Wii, and I don't buy pets-shampoo-a-thon because I don't like it. Why are we so worried that suddenly 6 crappy games will jump into our carts?
Why do we need more hardcore games? I'm guessing most hardcore gamers have a 360 or PS3. Why not let the Wii do what it does well: innovate, and bring in new gamers by the fistful.
Get an iTouch. Price is similar, but no fees per month for data and such. It's a great deal. and a great iPod.

I'm more a story guy, myself. If the story leads to lots of exploring, I'm game. Fable II has been the one I've been into exploring lots lately.
